About this house rental
Situated in Chimney Rock, this charming house for $737 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. The River House is a large home located in Chimney Rock and is within walking distance of Chimney Rock Village, NC, the Chimney Rock State Park entrance, and beautiful Lake Lure, NC, where Dirty Dancing was filmed. The River House sleeps 18. We are located on Main Street in the village of Chimney Rock and our home sits on the Rocky Broad River. We have 4 decks overlooking the river and plenty of seating for a large group to dine/grill outside overlooking the Rocky Broad River. The River House can host large groups/families of up to 18 people (children/babies, seniors, and all age groups are welcome!) with lots of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the Rocky Broad River (you can swim and fish in the river right behind the house and there are plenty of big rocks to play on and/or lay out in the sun!) and all the fun activities nearby (ziplining, horseback riding, rock climbing, and hiking in Chimney Rock State Park, just to name a few of the activities). The River House is available to be rented out by a group/family and closed to the public when the whole house is rented. We keep the VRBO calender updated constantly so if the date shows available on this calender, it is available for your group to rent the whole house.

Great large house with plenty of bedrooms directly on the river. The porch was great and we spent every morning and night on it. A direct walk to some restaurants and cute shops. The owner was fantastic to work with and was very nice! Enjoyed our stay!

This house is amazing! It was just my family of 4 and the property was perfect. It was fun examining all of the bedrooms. The River room only has an outside entrance, and after one night my youngest son moved inside. It would be a great room for someone who is looking for alone time. We spent the majority of our inside time at the kitchen counter/bar playing games and our outside time on the main level deck. The view is beyond description. The house is literally at the edge of the river. You can easily walk the rocks down to the river and fish. (We caught one!) Perfect spot to relax. The sound of the river babbling over the rocks is hypnotic. If you look up, you can see Chimney Rock. It is directly ahead of the house! We liked watching the flag being raised and lowered. The dedicated parking is important because the road was lined with cars. We walked the town every day (about 10 minute to the other side of town). You have to drive into Chimney Rock park and the entrance is about a 1 minute drive. The beginning of Lake Lure Village is maybe 5 minutes away. The location is great. I highly recommend staying here, but be warned that Chimney Rock restaurant hours are frustrating so plan dinners out in advance because you may not have an open place at times. Counter space at the house is very minimal so storing a lot of non-refrigerated food is tricky. We kept everything on the island in the kitchen and the dining room table.. it was an amazing vacation and we all would return in a heartbeat. (Kids are 16 and 18 and loved it)

Our family spent a week here during the Christmas holidays and a wonderful time was had by all! We watched old movies, listened to albums, had fun playing card games, and spent lots of time at the huge dining table enjoying our family meals. Overall experience was great and would definitely stay here again.

Thanksgiving Getaway
Fifteen of us (and one dog) descended upon the River House for the Thanksgiving week. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! The location was beautiful as we had the best view of Chimney Rock and were close to local restaurants and shops. The owners were extremely responsive to our questions and needs. Great trip!

Friends Getaway
This was a great property for our big group - plenty of bedrooms. The outdoor space overlooking the river was great - listening to the sound of the river was very relaxing. There was plenty of parking - which we really appreciated, especially on Saturday! There was also a seemingly endless supply of hot water, even with lots of showers and lots of dishwashing.
Getting all 18 of us gathered in one space (dining room really only seats 12 comfortably) was a challenge but we made it work. The owners were very friendly and accessible.
We all had a great time and would recommend this property.

Wonderful place to visit, feels like home away from home, just prettier!
The property is well maintained with comfy beds, wonderful decks outside the home that overlook the river. This is our second year in a row of staying here with a group of moms from our neighborhood. We had so much fun and look forward to returning next year!

Perfect home for our large family’s vacation!
Finding an affordable, yet clean and spacious vacation home for our growing family isn’t easy. But River House was that and more for 14 adults and 3yr old grandchild as we spent a week in Chimney Rock exploring the gorgeous area.
We arrived on Labor Day weekend, so the reserved parking was especially nice.
The next-door Broad River Inn coffee shop/cafe/mini golf establishment was a real plus too. Grocery shopping was easy and the kitchen was perfect for our crew, as we made breakfast each morning, prepared lunches for the day and cooked dinner 3 or 4 nights. The outdoor grill was great and we loved eating al fresco as often as we could.
The house was fun for all and had plenty of space for us to be together, yet have privacy too. The large dining table was perfect for meals and also for our nightly board games.
Nine bedrooms, 6 baths was amazing to find. Thank you to our hosts, who were available for any questions we had before & during the week.
The big rock in the river just behind the house became a favorite spot for reading and for watching a few brave family members go tubing past, smiling for the cameras.
We will long cherish the memories of our week together in this charming place. Thanks again!!!!

A+++++MAZING!!!
What a fantastic spot! We greatly enjoyed the location... easy to walk downtown or to the tiki bar (which has a free pool as long as you buy food/drinks). As close as it was it still was very private and the sound of the river was awesome. We enjoyed the well appointed rooms and Steve was so easy to contact and work with. We will go back!

Perfect location, style and ammenities
We rented three houses in Chimney Rock for a large family reunion. This one was for the young adults with no kids (the others were for the older generation and for the families with kids. We had all we needed in the kitchen for preparing our part of group meals. The rooms and beds were cozy and comfortable. There's not a ton of living space relative to the number of bedrooms, but we had group dinners planned for another house down the road and lots of road trips, so this didn't matter at all. A great bonus was the extra commercial refrigerator in the hall closet...the dinner house fridge was packed so we could bring the leftovers home with us and return them for lunch leftovers the next day. The owners were super cool and helped us with extra info before we arrived. Another cool feature is that the three downstairs units are all exterior access suites, two of which have optional access to the house interior (doors can be locked from inside or outside of the basement stairs) which is great for groups with members who want more privacy. Zero complaints!

Enjoyed our stay. Unique house with a unique location. Lots of room for family but had to be super careful with my dog due to house being on Main Street. River view from back of house was beautiful. Loved the friendly town atmosphere!!

Beautiful riverside property
We rented this house for a family reunion. It was wonderful. Tons of stuff to do within an hour and around town for all ages. Chimney Rock shuts down very early but we cooked most nights. The river was perfect for all ages while we were there but if there is a ton of rain could be hard with little ones.
Owners were very easy to contact and got back to us quickly the few times we contacted them before our rental

Wedding Weekend - Total Success!
We had our wedding in Chimney Rock and had a number of guests stay at River House! First of all the owners were SO helpful in getting everything organized and helping make so easy and look beautiful! The house was perfect for the grooms family to stay in and feel at home while they were here to visit and within walking distance to the wedding venue. Everyone said they had an amazing time and can't wait to make another trip out! Thank you so much River House for being such a huge part of an awesome weekend!

Amazing Christmas Stay for 15!
We loved everything about this house! We had 15 in our party, ranging from 18-82 and it worked perfectly for us. My mother was able to take the king on the main floor and avoid steps the rest of the weekend. The rest of us spread out throughout the house and each found our perfect bedroom. The sheets were TOP notch, I'm a sheet snob, and our bedding was so comfy!! We were able to fix breakfast each morning in the well-stocked kitchen and cooked a huge Christmas lunch with ease. The extra refrigerator was a great bonus for drinks and extra casseroles! We all had a great time in the den opening presents and had plenty of room. The inn is so homey, it's so comfortable. We walked to putt-putt (yes, even in the cold) and to many restaurants as the house was so close to everything! Clean, very kind and responsive owner - highly recommend!

Perfect house for our family gathering of 12 that included small children and some older folks. The layout of the house felt practically custom ordered for each family unit giving everyone both the privacy and living and lounging areas that they might want! This house is a true River Lover's respit place providing amazing views of the river below accessible by the outdoor decks for lounging and relaxing. Just a short easy walk out the door and up the block await charming coffee houses, restaurants, mountain tourist shops appealing to all ages... and Chimney Rock State Park. Highly recommended getaway place for immersing yourself in nature with quick access to "mountain town charm".
