About this house rental
Nestled in Makawao, this lovely house for $1,545 per night is a great option for your next trip. Removed from the resort beachfront crowds, the 2 acre Banyan Tree simply overflows with peace and Hawaiiana. Giant Banyan, Monkeypod and Jacaranda trees create perfect shady spots to lounge or sun lovers can enjoy spectacular ocean and mountain views while hanging out around the large pool. We are just a mile to the quaint cowboy town of Makawao and a 15 drive down to Paia, both of which are brimming with restaurant choices and boutiques. Paia is also home to some of the best beaches on the island. For those whose taste leans a bit more adventurous than beach days, upcountry Maui is also known for its hiking and mountain biking. Between Poli Poli, Haleakala National Park, and the Makawao Forest Reserve, you will have more than enough exploration options for your trip. Furnished in traditional island style furniture, the living room, formal dining room, and bedrooms will give you the flavor of old Hawaii. Despite the flavor of old Hawaii, you will have the conveniences of modern Hawaii with high speed internet, a laundry room, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Simply amazing and naturally beautiful! Spacious for 7 families, privacy, safety, clean, prepared, organized, friendly, central to all Maui attractions. 4 families total 14 people stayed at this place and we all had an amazing time!! Communication with the owner went great and she was always responsive. One family couldn’t come to the trip but she worked out a refund for us by closing off one of the rooms. She even bought a new rice cooker for us!! Thank you so much for the great hospitality.

Check in and communication were flawless. The property was better than expected. Plenty of room for our large family with gorgeous views, enormous pool and well supplied kitchen. The town nearby was perfect for coffee, bakery items and local shopping. Nothing was far away and we enjoyed snorkeling, zip lining, hiking, and beautiful sunsets. The chickens on property were a bonus.
Local coffee shop and bakery were amazing. Every bedroom had a pod coffee machine but the only place we found to buy pods was Costco. They did have a drip coffee maker in the main kitchen. Laundry was $6 per load. We all agreed we would return to this same location in a heartbeat. Prayers for Maui.

When our family of 12 arrived at the Banyan Tree House, we felt as if we were at the heart of nature. The property was breathtaking with all of the colorful trees and foliage. A cute little Rooster and hen were walking around the place with their feathered feet. They woke some of us each morning to start the day early doing yoga , walking and looking at the mountains and ocean in the distance.
Our family had so many plans when we arrived here but our plans changed to staying here and enjoying all this place had to offer.
There were fruits, vegetables and beautiful foliage on the property. All of this surrounded the big pool, hot tub and outside shower, as well as, the house and four cottages. We immediately began relaxing by the pool. Noone wanted to get groceries for the grill but two finally did
There were two swings. One swing and lemon tree were hanging from the humongous Banyan tree.
The house had a large dining room, den, and kitchen. The three bedrooms had two beds, a kitchenette and their own full bathroom.
Each of the four cottages had a kitchenette, full bath, one to three beds and their own lanai. With the wind blowing and big windows open, we stayed cool and slept well in the comfy beds in the house and cottages.
This place has us already talking about coming back to Maui and staying at the Banyan Tree House. It was exactly what we thought of when we thought of Maui with its mountains, waterfalls, and ocean. Nature at its finest!

The property was even better than pictured as the wide variety of flowers and vegetation was fantastic. There were lime and banana trees, multiple varieties of plumeria and other trees. The accommodations were perfect for our party of 9, each couple/person had their own room with bath. The home and cottages were spacious, clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend!

Our family of 14 spent time on Maui at the Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast & then on Oahu. Maui was our favorite. The Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast lends itself to a more relaxing vacation. You are surrounded by the beauty of Hawaii. We spent each evening watching the sun go down sitting next to the pool. There was plenty of room to meet together, but also plenty of room for a large party to have privacy. We were surprised that the sun was down by 7:30 p.m. This led us to going to bed early & waking up early to the sound of many birds and wildlife as well as the chickens by 5:30 a.m. You should be aware that you need to bring your own coffee pods for the keurig & paper towels (1 provided). There is a large washer and dryer on the property with furnished detergent, but you are asked to pay $6 a load. There is no breakfast provided, but in Makawao just a minute or two away there is an outstanding bakery, Komoda Bakery. There is no air conditioner which took some getting used to. However, each room has a fan. By the time the sun went down it surprisingly was a little chilly. We opened the doors and windows and enjoyed the breeze through our rooms. The property is older, but is very clean. Our host Helaina & her husband live next door to the property & were quick to respond to questions & needs. The house is centrally located which made it easy to go anywhere on the island. We loved how relaxing & peaceful our time was at the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast and would highly recommend it!

As opposed to a traditional party, we rented this property for a long weekend and our entire family was able to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy time together! I knew it would be fun, but it surpassed my expectations. It matched our style and speed perfectly. The hosts were available and responsive to every question we had. We had a blast and made beautiful memories. I would do it again in a heartbeat when my next son graduates from High School! Thank you Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast.

Property had an old Hawaii feel, entire home was very clean and stocked with everything you would need at a home away from home. Property manager was very kind and responsive to anything we needed. Over all we could not have ask for a better place to enjoy a relaxing family vacation.
I would definitely recommend Banyan tree inn and will will be back if ever needing a place to stay in maui.

A wonderful historic property with plenty of room for active kids - We enjoyed catching up with each other while the kids played soccer & ping pong. Everyone enjoyed the pool. A great base from which to explore beaches & the local towns. Helaina was welcoming & available if we needed anything. It was a much more authentic experience than staying in a resort or condo. Would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing stay with our friends/family the week of our wedding! The property is gorgeous and everyone had plenty of space to spread out! We really enjoyed the hot tub and views and being able to walk to Makawao town for brunch. Helaina was so friendly when we met her at check-in. Would highly recommend this place for a big group!

Our 12 person 3 generation group loved our time here. Space to be together, space to be alone, ping pong and games, a beautiful pool with an ocean view and a fantastic kitchen to cook in. Fun to be in Makawao and a great central location to access the Island. Wonderful hosts, too.

We had a great stay and the property was as described. I would have given 5 stars but the lacks of towels (2 for 2 and 3 beds- for a week) and the lack of enough blankets made us need to use beach towels we brought for showers and use blankets from rooms we didn’t use. Also, more info about amenities would have been helpful. There are kuerigs available but you cannot purchase pods in either Paia or Makawao and there are no filters with the drip machine. No problem… would have used a paper towel till I could but some, but there are no paper towels. Hot tub needed cleaning so we didn’t use. Pool was lovely and the location and charm of the property is lovely.

We had a group of 11 stay at the property for four nights. It was a terrific location and there was more than enough space for our group to enjoy family time together but also retreat to our own spaces. The pool and grounds were amazing. Loved all the fruit trees, rope swing, corn hole, ping pong, etc. Great location with easy access to Makawao town. Would definitely recommend!!!

This was a wonderful place for children and adults. The location was great for access to everything Maui had to offer and the amenities on the property were appropriate, and enjoyed, by children from 6 to 17 as well as all of the 6 adults in our party.

Perfect for large groups
The pictures of the property do not do this rental justice. It’s a slice of paradise. The owners are prompt to answer any questions you might have. We had a group of 11 and there 2 units not used. You could not ask for a better setup for a large group. If I go back to Maui this is where I would stay. You can get to every place on the island in an hour. Loved it!!

We had a wonderful stay! The property is beautiful, unique and well located. Everything was clean and the property owner was very responsive in taking care of anything we needed. The kids loved the pool and hot tub and the views were incredible!

Exceeded our expectations for our family of 13. Hostess Helaina was just the right amount of giving space and being present when needed. The property is beautiful! Just far enough to feel secluded but a close drive to beaches &.excursions. The pool & jacuzzi are amazing! We hope to return.

Family Golden Anniversary Celebration
Our family of 14, including our children and grandchildren from ages 8-17, stayed at this beautiful property the week before Christmas. Our experience was excellent. Our hosts were attentive and thoughtful. The main house was large and well-furnished for our needs. The roomy kitchen was well-equipped, the dining and living rooms were big enough for us all to gather, and the family enjoyed the ping pong table in the sunroom, as well as the hot tub outdoors. We appreciated that each bedroom and cottage had its own bathroom, so each family (ourselves, our three children and their spouses, and the six grandchildren) had a private space as well as the large communal space in the big house. The three cottages housed two couples, while most of the grandkids stayed together in the third roomy cottage. The main house had four separate suites, so the remaining two couples and the oldest grandchild had suites to themselves, with the fourth suite unused. I especially want to thank our hosts for the bottled water and ice cream they brought to us when the city water main broke and we were briefly without water through no fault of theirs. The property itself is beautiful and restful. We highly recommend this listing for extended family gatherings.

Beautiful surroundings with a wonderful configuration for our large family. We used the commercial kitchen to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Rooms were well appointed. Helaina was super helpful and welcoming, she provided additional amenities when asked Everyone had an enjoyable time - highly recommend!
