About this house rental

Situated in Bay Islands Department, this lovely house for $135 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Utila's only Treehouse was hand-crafted by a Scandinavian carpenter and artist, to fulfill his dream of a harmonious and resplendent home in the vibrant nature of the tropical Bay Islands. There is no other place like it, on the island, in the world. Romantic, unique, and naturally beautiful. The house boasts two floors aloft in a giant fig tree. First floor studio contains a full kitchen (oven, fridge, blender, coffee maker, pots, pans, all necessary dishes and silverware, etc.) and dining/living area plus queen bed surrounded by windows facing the eastern shore and sunrise. The second floor is a full queen bedroom with skylight and stunning views through the glass-paned, easterly facing wall. Both floors have air-conditioners and fans, as well as custom-crafted louvered windows to catch the rich tropical breezes that only a house high in a tree can arrange. There are three decks, meticulously designed around the fig tree to provide varying degrees of cool, leafy shade, each with its own generous view of rich green vegetation, perfectly set off by blue ocean and sky. From the top deck you can almost touch the whirling gulls, or Milky Way, depending on the time of day. Requisite hammocks provided, of course. Complete bathroom with hot-water shower is located on the ground level, as well as a refreshing, private outdoor bucket shower on the first elevated deck. The treehouse is the best of both worlds: extremely private (nestled in the nature of Stuart's Hill, hidden from view and away from the noise and bustle of town) and yet just a few minutes' walk to the commercial center. The house is situated on the side of Stuart's Hill, and a two-minute walk to the top rewards with its 360-degree view of the island. Just outside of the property lies Utila's Iguana Station, a research center and tourist attraction where you can learn about Utila's endangered endemic iguanas along with myriad other creatures who also call the island home. Laundry service and maid service are available.

We lived out our Swiss Family Robinson childhood dreams! You can tell the owners take great pride in this property. They paid attention to every detail. My favorite part was hanging out in the hammock on the top deck and enjoying the breeze. We would walk downhill to town and then take a Tuktuk back. This will be an experience that We will never forget!

The treehouse was exactly as pictured in the vrbo photos. It was clean, aircon and the shade of the tree kept us cool when needed and the views from the top were amazing. The shower has excellent water pressure for those of you with long hair. Our kids 10 and 12 loved exploring the tree ladders and platforms with us at night to see what animals would come out we had geckos, anoles, tree frogs, preying mantis (2kinds), bats, curly haried tarantulas Betsy and Bob, tree snail, katydids perfect for the nature lover and kid explorers. Communication was smooth with the property manager and wifi was good enough to do zoom calls for work. The only noise at night were the tree frogs, cicadas geckos and the wind in the tree leaves. Just a short walk to town and we cooked 2/3 of our meals in the kitchen here.

I was so excited to stay in the tree house! We were the Swiss Family Robinson all week! It was a great choice for us and such a unique stay! My husband LOVED the bucket shower and the view from the hammock on the top floor was fantastic! A word of warning though....there are a few critters that will come and visit....but don't worry they are scared of you and won't hurt you a bit! Thanks to JJ for the hospitality!

This place is simply amazing, and the property managers and owners are exceptional. The treehouse is a real work of art and passion, so if you are looking for something special - look no further. Utila is laid back and great fun in the sun... but the treehouse is a calming refuge from the water activity. My nephew is 17 and he and I spent 5 days here and it was amazing. I am not sure when we might get back, but the peace and tranquility will be in our memories for a long time. Thanks to the owners and their team - an excellent experience!

Such an incredible place to stay. It is a treehouse nestled off the beaten path so there may be a few bugs, maybe a friendly lizard or spider but nothing that doesn't add to it's charm. Mosquitos are everywhere on this island though so make sure you have bug repellent! All in all I would highly recommend to friends and family, and will definitely return!

We took our two girls 13 & 15 for the diving. The treehouse was great, we loved it. The diving did not disappoint. We went looking for Whale Sharks and found a pod of Pilot Whales, which were even more rare. We went sport fishing and caught a Barracuda that was bait for double hooked Marlin's. This was a trip of a lifetime. I would go back and I don't say that about many places:) The people were friendly and it seemed like they wanted to know you.

Great place and I would stay again. Loved the outside shower and views. The only downside is it is a bit out of the main town, but we rented transportation from Rooney's and it wasn't a problem at all.
