About this house rental

Situated in Alexandria Bay, this attractive house for $350 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This property is usually available in July and August each year--a perfect place for your family's summer vacation! We have Friday to Friday check-in/check-out days and a 7-day minimum stay. This beautiful 2-story family home is a small house and comfortably sleeps 4 people (and 2 additional guests on sleeper sofa) and is a few miles east of Alexandria Bay and close to the 1000 Islands International Bridge. IT IS LOCATED ON A SMALL, ONE-WAY LANE AND HAS PARKING FOR THREE VEHICLES. WE ARE LOCATED IN A SMALL RESIDENTIAL AREA, LARGE FAMILY PARTIES OR EVENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED. The home is approximately 1500 square feet and offers 2 bedrooms: one with a queen bed, two closets, two dressers, a television, and a reading area; another bedroom with a full bed, two closets. There are also 2 sleeper sofas on the first floor—a full sleeper and a twin sleeper. There are 2 bathrooms —one full bath upstairs (tub with shower, single sink, toilet) and one-half bath (shower, toilet, single sink) on the ground level with a washer/dryer in that room. The kitchen has a small breakfast table for 2, a dishwasher, refrigerator, electric oven with stovetop burners, microwave oven, blender, toaster oven, mixer, wine rack and is fully appointed with tableware and cooking/baking equipment. The living room has a fireplace, television, seating area for 4-5 (with one twin size sleeper sofa), a desk, a china cabinet, and a dining table that can seat 6 people. There is an enclosed porch off the living room that also has a small table/chairs for either games, puzzles, etc and a full-size sleeper sofa and seating area. There is another enclosed porch that faces the River with windows on three sides offering spectacular views. This room has a seating area for 6, a dining table that seats 6, and a radio/CD player. The property is on the waterfront with a boathouse and docks available for your use. (IF YOU HAVE A BOAT, PLEASE TAKE YOUR BOAT TO MARINA/BOAT RAMP BEFORE DRIVING TO THE HOUSE. THE STREET IS A SMALL ONE-WAY LANE AND THERE IS NOT ROOM TO TURN AROUND IN THE STREET. THERE IS A MARINA WITH A BOAT RAMP AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE PROPERTY. TALK TO OWNER TO GET MORE INFORMATION. ) You can swim (swim ladder on dock), fish from the docks (many large fish have been caught there over the years!) and tie up your boat. PLEASE WATCH SMALL CHILDREN AS THE STAIRS TO THE BOATHOUSE ARE RATHER STEEP AND THE HILLSIDE IS TERRACED WITH DROP-OFFS DOWN TO THE RIVER. We have had young kids/grandkids at the house and they need supervision when outside. An outside patio facing the beautiful St. Lawrence River offers outside seating with a new Fire-pit to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets and the many ships navigating the St. Lawrence Seaway right in front of you. The boathouse is located down the steps to the River edge and has a 12 ft x 20 ft slip. There are additional docks around the boathouse that can accommodate a larger boat. In 2019, the north-side dock was raised to accommodate any high-water issues that may re-occur in the future. There is a driveway with a parking area for two cars and room for one more car in front of the garden— off the street. There is an air conditioner in the master bedroom that cools off the second floor. There are two more air conditioners on the first floor. Portable fans are provided floor if needed for more air circulation. Average nightly temperature is 60 degrees F in July— our warmest month. (Daily temps average 80 degrees.) This cozy home is immaculately clean and offers a comfortable ‘home away from home’ for a small family or couple looking for a wonderful vacation in the Thousand Islands. AREA ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES: The 1000 Islands area is a vacation paradise and the St. Lawrence River provides visitors with opportunities for world-class fishing (named among the top 10 in the USA), recreational boating, kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, swimming, and scuba diving. The St. Lawrence Seaway (a series of channels and locks along the River) provides the opportunity for many large, commercial ocean and sea-going ships from all over the world to travel up and down the St. Lawrence. They travel right outside your windows and Internet apps (Marine Traffic) or FaceBook sites (St. Lawrence Seaway Ship Watchers) allow you to identify the ship and anticipate when it will travel past the house. People come from all over the globe to enjoy magnificent sight-seeing including two island castles, several lighthouses, and island beaches associated with State and National Parks on both sides of the River. There are breath-taking tours (by boat and helicopter) of the River and its islands. US readers of 10BEST/USA Today voted this as Best Boat Ride in the US. The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton is one of a kind and has an unprecedented collection of wooden boats, speed boats, and fascinating history of boating in the Islands. It is one of many large and small museums in both the US and Canadian sides of the River that will capture your interest and imagination. There is live theater and music offered in many venues, fine and casual dining, winery tours and tastings at several local vineyards, hiking trails, several golf courses, horseback riding, tennis and bicycling. There are many very talented artists that call this home and their outstanding pieces capture many wonderful sights and memories of the area. Art is available in many of the galleries located in Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Cape Vincent as well as towns on the Canadian side of the River. Brochures are available in the house (on a bookcase shelf in the living room) to help access many of these attractions and opportunities to make your vacation special! There are also several books by local authors and books that share the history of the Islands on the bookshelf. If you are traveling by airplane, the Watertown International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away and the Syracuse International Airport is about 1 1/4 hours away. We all had a wonderful stay at the DiMaria cottage! We so enjoyed having AC! I loved that the kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of! As soon as I walked in I felt like I was at home! We would definitely be interested in renting again!

Relax on the patio taking in the spectacular surroundings, dine on the enclosed porch without missing the views of river activities, take advantage of all the local communities have to offer. The care and detail to this property is apparent and appreciated. If you never thought you would be a bird/chipmunk watcher a stay at this home will convert you with the lovely gardens. A wonderful place to vacation.

This is our second summer spending a week at Joan’s beautiful property, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. Her home is always so clean, organized and warm. Feels like home away home! Our family really enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets, 4th of July fireworks from the dock, and our 1 year old loved his first time swimming in the River. Great location for family fun and wonderful memories. Thanks again, Joan. We hope to be back next year!
