Unbelievable views! The house and grounds are immaculate. Candi and Jed are exceptional hosts. Manini Beach is just minutes away by car and offers good snorkeling access to Kealakekua Bay. This house has everything and is precisely as described in the listing information. Our party of 7 adults and 2 teens had a memorable vacation stay!

We were thrilled with our stay. The sunsets were amazing and so was the house. There. were 10 of us and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was stocked with everything imaginable. We loved our stay.

The Maka Nui felt like home away from home. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. As others have mentioned, Candi is great, very friendly and laid back. I would highly recommend this house.

Wow! This house and property are beautiful!! My family and I very much enjoyed our stay!! The views are breathtaking, and I could sit on the porch all day every day taking in the ocean views!

Wonderful home and owners. Candi and her family are awesome and available when needed! Great place for large groups. Nice, spacious and comfortable common areas in main house. Everything you could possibly need in kitchen is available. Bedrooms are big with comfortable beds! Our group of 9 appreciated each bedroom having a full bath…really helped getting everyone ready and out the door quickly to enjoy Hawaii! Plus there is a bathroom in the common area of home. The lanai (patio) is enclosed by screen so you can enjoy the outdoors bug free and the view wowzer…fantastic. Great pool area for those times when you just wanna relax or enjoy a swim. The grounds are gorgeous and very private. We loved it.

We visited Hawaii with our family of 5 and a group of friends. The space was perfect for us! The rooms are huge and there's plenty of living space to hang out together, or spread out and read quietly on your own. The lanai boasts a gorgeous view - perfect for drinking coffee in the morning, catching a sunset, or practicing yoga if that’s your thing. We had a wonderful stay.

Some key points:
Great communication, which to me meant timely updates to questions as well as letting us know very clearly when people may be on the property for maintenance.
The property was what was described and the location, especially at sunset, was amazing.
Checkin was easy and our overall experience was what we expected for any location on the Big Island including teh sounds of nature and a laid back experience.
Would certainly recommend.

We spent a week in the house with 6 adults and 3 children and it was wonderful! Tons of space for everyone and the kids loved the pool and all of the space outside to run around. We would definitely book again!

Property was well maintained. The house was beautiful and the view from the house is amazing. Our group of 8 adults cooked in a few nights and we had everything we needed to prepare meals. House is about a 30-40 minute drive from airport but if you enjoy peace and quiet then this is the place for you.

We had 8 people stay, extremely comfortably. There was a TON of space, inside and out. Very nice home, with a nice breeze all day and night. So comfortable.
We will stay here next time we come back!

My family and I stayed here for 11 days in January 2023 (10 of us, total). Overall it was a positive experience and we would recommend it.
Pros:
1. The view is incredible!
2. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, essential when traveling in large groups.
3. The pool was fantastic!
4. Candi, the host, was great.
Cons:
1. There were a million tiny ants in the kitchen and bathrooms. We had to throw away food left on the counter that became infested (cereal, chips, crackers). We learned our lesson and stored everything either in the fridge, in ziplocks, or in bowls/containers with lids.
2. We understand it's a big property, but it really wasn't very clean.
Things to Know:
1. There's no A/C. This wasn't ever a problem for us, but it didn't get very hot during our stay. There were plenty of fans to keep the air moving.
2. It's a 25 minute drive to Kona for shopping/dining.

The pictures do not do the property justice; the reality is much better than the pictures. My overall opinion is "great value" (I'd give it 9 out of 10; however, if it was a 10 it would be $400/night more). Many amenities were there; but, not listed - a good surprise (6 sets of snorkel gear). The kitchen is incredibly well-stocked with more than we needed, there's even an ice cream maker. Everyone in our group wanted to stay longer and/or return.

We had a great stay at this property. Candi (the local property manager) lives on the property and was a friendly, wonderful and responsive host. The property is a long way from downtown nightlife and beaches, so is not for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. There are some great food options close by, including groceries but it is more pricey than in K-K. We did have two toddlers and there are hazards yuo should be aware of (pool, stairs and potential falls from a high wall near the pool) so we had to watch them every moment, but it was manageable. The property is not for anyone with a Gecko phobia! Fortunately, we love them. There are some biting insects, including mosquitos, at dawn and dusk, but the main deck is screened. For anyone really sensitive to bug bites, take along repellant and antihistamines and you will be fine. But this was only a minor issue at dusk or when walking in the long grass etc. I was thrilled to see Hawaiian hawks daily, a very rare species. All in all a great stay. Thanks so much to Candi and the owners for providing us the opportunity for our family get together.

We so enjoyed our time at the Maka Nui estate. Beautiful views from nice big house with lots of space for the family to really spread out. The screened-in deck on the top floor allowed us to enjoy the outdoors bug-free. Highly recommended.

Such a wonderful meeting place for 4 couples from around the world. Privacy but close to everything you need. Amazing views and snorkeling. Candi even stopped in to introduce herself while we were cooking dinner.

Candi was spectacular helping us decorate prior to our arrival to celebrate daughter’s 40th birthday. She hung banners and placed signs in yard that I had mailed her and even purchased champagne with money I sent her. Home was lovely, well appointed and in great location. Our stay was perfect

We had a Fantastic time at Maka Nui with our family.
The view is mind blowing and the house, deck and grounds are equally awesome. My 18 month old granddaughter has add "gecko" to her vocabulary. Poured rained nearly every late afternoon/evening which we enjoyed, along with the frogs, which croaked louder as the rain became heavier.
Master suite up stairs is half the size of our entire home. Spectacular! The downstairs suite were also large and comfortable. Beach toys, beach chairs and umbrellas were available for use. Just pack them up and go.
This property had everything you would want or imagine.
Will hopefully return very soon.

Family vacation to attend family wedding
Excellent stay, fabulous views of Captain Cook bay and the mountains. There was lots of space for each of 3 family units including bedrooms with full baths for 3 couples with 4 kids in a separate room also with a full bath. There was an extra queen bed in the master suite that did not even get used. The wraparound lanai and the pool were great additions and were used daily. The kitchen and very large island were in constant use but again with enough space that several people could be in the kitchen without running into each other. Other additions added to the experience including beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, laundry room , internet and cable. Candi was an excellent host!!

Our family had a wonderful vacation at Maka Nui Estate! The views from the lanai were amazing; we spent a lot of time out there eating, reading, and just enjoying the view and gentle breeze. Our kids loved the pool and giant bath tub, and there was plenty of space to spread out. The house is well stocked with pool towels and toys, as well as anything you could need for a beach day (cooler, umbrella, chairs). Mango trees on the property were fantastic! We had fresh mangos almost every day. Also, the coffee grown on the estate was amazing- we bought a bag to take home! I would highly recommend staying here- we had five adults and three kids in the house, and it was perfect for us.

This house was incredible! It was huge, on the hill for a tremendous view, close to amazing snorkelling, and with a pool to keep the kids happy! The gardens were beautiful and well kept.

Maka Nui is a slice of Hawaiian heaven. Spacious and grand enough for our family gathering of 10 with a comforting, homey vibe, unending coastline views, and abounding amenities such as the pool, veranda space for all, beach gear, etc., etc. We hoped for a true Hawaiian experience, and we found it on this gracious estate property, complete with a helpful, responsive host, Candy. Captain Cook, Kealakekua and Maka Nui equipped each of us with joy to carry in our hearts and share with each other from now on.

Authentic Hawaii
This is THE place to stay if you want to really feel the Hawaii vibe! It's set in a lush, tropical area away from tourists. It is a bit away from the tourist area, but you can drive there (25-30 minutes), though it is close to Captain Cook where you'll want to snorkel. On this Big Island, you'll be driving anyway. The grounds and view are beyond gorgeous. We kept the house open to the trade winds then entire week's stay and the breeze kept it perfectly cool in the evening/night. Keep in mind, you are in beautiful nature, so you may hear frogs, crickets, birds and see geckos and a bug or two inside. We had ants in the kitchen which hopefully, will be treated. Also, the house (beautifully appointed in Hawaiian decor) is HUGE! Plenty of room to spread out, find a quiet spot to read, private bathroom for every bedroom, huge kitchen and lanais, lovely swimming pool with fabulous landscaping, etc. You'll notice the place is not new. All appliances worked, but some had quirks like the dishwasher door opens almost to the floor or the refrigerator has to be pushed to close. Finally, Candi will do anything to make your stay more comfortable and she made that very clear from the beginning. We had 7 people (my husband and I, our 2 married daughters with their husbands, and my mother-in-law) and rented a minivan. We were able to get all of us around the island in our vehicle, but had to Uber some of us from the airport to hold all the luggage. Candi offered to take our luggage back to the airport for us for a small gas fee which was a BIG help. I would highly recommend Maka Nui. Plenty supplies too: beach towels, beach chairs and umbrella, ice chest, blender, crock pots, ...
