Situated in Puerto Diablo, this charming house for $304 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. The rare thing about Barefoot Bungalow is the privacy. You don't share a pool or the deck. You have the house, pool, yard and deck completely to yourself. Our Bungalow is located on the tranquil island of Vieques. Our three bedroom, 2 bath home is tastefully furnished in a relaxed, comfortable bungalow style. The property offers an array of amenities, including a pool for your use only, a deck overlooking the ocean, BBQ, washer and dryer, hammock and, of course, the beautiful blue sea a few steps from your doorstep. You can hear the crashing waves from your bedroom and still be surrounded by the tranquility of your own yard. Wake up in the morning and sit outside on your private patio, looking out over the waves at the islands of Culebra, Puerto Rico and on a clear day, St. Thomas, while you sip your coffee. Listen to the sounds of the surf breaking in the evening as the sun sets while you stroll in the sand looking for shells and sea glass, or lie peacefully swinging in the hammock. Lounge by Pool: What can be more luxurious and refreshing than a dip in your own pool after a long day at the beach? Not much. Lounge in the sun, enjoy the lush tropical foliage, and maybe read a good book. Sit under the fountain and let the water splash over you. Watch the sea gulls and pelicans fly overhead and spot the iguana family that comes to feed on the hibiscus and sun on the wall. Take a night time dip and float on your back and gaze up at the stars. Easy Living: Two of the things that our guests comment on most frequently are the great night's sleep they experience in our comfortable beds, and the luxurious sheets and towels we provide in abundance. We strive hard to make your experience the vacation you want it to be with a fully equipped kitchen (to help you prepare your fresh-caught seafood), air conditioning in all the rooms, and an outside dining area to enjoy the breeze off the ocean. Note: Although we suffered some damage from Hurricane Maria, many of the island's inhabitants suffered much more. Three of the cottages next to us were totally destroyed. They are slowly trying to rebuild, and we applaud their positive attitudes and "can do" spirit.

The beach front location is amazing. Walk right out front yard to a quiet beach, good for waking but a little rocky for swimming. Ocean waves lull you to sleep. But the house is dated and needs updating. The couches had broken springs, a couple window fixtures were broken, the kitchen has old appliances, the place needs TLC to live up to its potential.

The bungalow was beautiful and well kept, especially in the tropics where I know it can be challenging. It was clean and had everything we needed from the kitchen to the bedrooms, bathrooms, and living space.
It was a very quiet neighborhood not a far drive from Isabel. A car/vehicle was definitely needed so I am glad we had a rental.
We enjoyed walking the beach right out front every morning, found a ton of beach glass and shells. The pool was lovely at the end of the day to cool off after a long day at the beach.
A few bits of feedback: the two-seater love seat has a spring that is poking up. It hasn’t broken the fabric but it is a bit sharp for anyone who sits on that seat.
The toaster seemed to be stuck in “bagel” mode and would only toast on one side. We just flipped our bread to toast both sides which worked fine.
The outside porch area overlooking the ocean would have been more enjoyable if the bushes had been trimmed down so we could see the water while sitting. But I also understand that they may have just overgrown over time, they kind of looked like the type of plant that grows fast.

we had an incredible week long stay at this lovely cottage. Elizabeth was lovely and a great manager who communicated with us very well and answered any questions we had. The cottage is a little more dated than the profile photos but it really was a joy to be there. The house had everything we needed to cook and be really comfortable and relaxed. Having the beach right there and the pool for our kids to play in after a long day exploring other parts of the island. We enjoyed making our own pina coladas in the kitchen and drinking them in the front yard while playing with the hermit crabs and lizards that visit everyday. I was initially unsure if the location on the north side compared to Esparanza but it was so peaceful. I would book here again in a heartbeat.

Comminication with the owners and on location manager was exceptional. The property was clean and as advertised. It was clear that the owners took extra steps to make certain those who stay feel welcome and at home. The kitchen was very well stocked as was the house. Our family had everything we needed. The beach, view and pool were such a delight. There wasn't a day that went by that we weren't enjoying them all. The island was easily accessible and we enjoyed exploring all that Vieques had to offer.

Bungalow as advertised. Looks a bit more dates than pictures show. Patio pleasant to relax on after a day of exploring. It is a little tight parking in the driveway. Neighborhood is still recovering from hurricanes.

The Barefoot Bungalow is a sweet cottage in a perfect location. Being able to watch and listen to the ocean from anywhere on the property - inside and out - was amazing! Especially relaxing in the afternoon or going to sleep. Communication with the owners was easy and prompt, and meeting Elizabeth - the house manager - was an absolute delight!

We had such a great time in Vieques! The property was really sweet; it is exactly as described on the beach with a private yard. The pool was great, I thought maybe it would be too small but it was perfect for the four of us. The yard was great, and I loved having my coffee on the deck that overlooked the ocean. The inside of the house was clean and the beds were comfy. Listening to the ocean at night was amazing. Overall this was a great home base to come back to and chill after exploring the many things to see and experience in Vieques.

The Barefoot Bungalow is a beautiful little home that has everything you need. Very well stocked with the standards and much more! Sheets are soft and fresh, bath and beach towels are fluffy and plentiful. We enjoyed the brand new beach chairs and hammock. The A/C is super cool and the hot water worked well. Brand new washer and dryer were a great amenity.
The property manager, Elizabeth, was super responsive and extremely kind. We felt like family for the week we stayed.
It’s a quiet location off the beaten path so a rental car is a must. But wow, the view and the sound of the surf - totally worth it. The beach is great for walking and searching for shells. The pool is very nice although we mostly enjoyed all the incredible Vieques beaches.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay at Barefoot Bungalow. The location is absolutely fabulous - there’s nothing better than listening to the ocean while you lie in bed, and sitting outdoors looking at the stars or watching the waves while sipping coffee - it was unbelievable. The house is just minutes from town and both the neighbor and property manager are very friendly and helpful. It’s a rustic cottage but comfortable and my family loved our stay. Great snorkeling out front and we spent many happy afternoons down the road collecting sea glass at Bastimento beach. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Overall, it was good. The location was great. The pool was great for the adults and the two grandkids. Maintenance of the property could be better. There were parts of the fence falling apart and by the washer/dryer they were in bad shape. House was well stocked with utensils, plates, glasses and pots/ pans.

Perfect house for 4 girls to reconnect and recharge. Our favorite thing was having morning coffee just steps from the ocean (we recommend adding a little coffee-infused rum locally made on Vieques). Elizabeth was wonderful and so helpful! Really quiet location—I think we were the loud ones on the block this week :-) everything was as described and the house was very clean and comfortable. We loved our stay!

Pictures are exactly what you get. The house manager Elizabeth was the sweetest. Loved that there were beach chairs, cooler and towels for us to use. Kids even did a puzzle that was provided. We can’t wait to return!

The house was better than imagined! You couldn't get closer to the ocean if you tried. It was amazing to watch the wave brush onto the property at high tide and the sound was so relaxing. The house is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for meals at home. It's about a 15 minute walk into town and convenient for trips around the island. Hope to visit again in the future!

We just completed a week's stay and the place was outstanding. We are adventurous and we found plenty to do every traveling from end to end beach to beach. A car is necessary and driving around is easy as long as you are cautious and used to island drivers. Groceries and supplies were readily available and kind of pricey but not too bad....meat and vegetables were available most days,,, as was fresh fish as long as the boats went out.....insects were no problem as they are on most islands...construction at nearby cottages was barely noticeable...we loved it!

Excellent location, great beach. My favorite thing was looking at the stars, seeing the milkyway during a meteor shower while laying in the hammock listening to the waves... that felt like vacation.

The property was perfect for our family vacation in terms of location, amenities, and indoor and outdoor space. The welcome basket was a special touch. The pool was very clean and we enjoyed it daily (the adults with our pina coladas poolside as well). We appreciated having beach towels and chairs to bring to the beach. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. It was good to see area reconstruction. With a few fixes/updates the property would be perfect (very dusty bedside lights, missing lightbulb in master bedroom main lights, uncomfortable couches, and outdated, torn binder with property and local information). Overall, we were very happy with our stay!

We had an amazing time, the house was perfect for the 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. We rented a Jeep to visit all of the amazing beaches on the island and enjoyed the pool and walks on the beach in the afternoon. We have visited Vieques many times, but this was our first time bringing our children and the house was perfect for our stay. It is very breezy by the ocean and the only concern I had was coconuts falling from the palm trees. About 4-5 fell during the length of our stay so we were nervous to hang out in some areas of the yard and on one the side of the pool. Otherwise it was perfect and we were grateful for the beach towels, chairs, umbrella and pool toys.

We stayed in July 2022. It was the first time we selected a cabin tipe house instead of the luxurious and expensive villas of Vieques. We dint miss anithing about them because it was well furnisshed with everything you could need and much more. Every detail well thought out, beach chairs. Towels, table games sun protector towels, bedding and many other amenities. The manager met us at the property and offered us a basket with some goodies and the ingredients to enjoy a Delicious Piña Colada a typical and refreshing drink from the island. So we start the party. . . Hope you can enjoy the visit to Vieques as well as we enjoy it.

We loved Vieques!
We had a wonderful time in Vieques! The house was exactly what we expected at this price point. The hosts were great with communication and the house manager was excellent once we arrived. The house is in a great location to town, beautiful and relaxing setting right on the beach. We didn’t think we would use the pool, but turned out we used it everyday and loved it! The house was clean, very safe, and comfortable for our group of 5. The property itself felt large and everyone had enough space to spread out. Would love to visit again one day!

Amazing!
My husband and I stayed the last week of June for our anniversary. This cute little house, right on the beach, was perfect! The ocean is your front yard and a very nice pool in the back yard. The house was very clean and the AC was a great bonus. It is close to many grocery stores and restaurants but I higy recommend renting a car, more specifically a Jeep! Many of the best beaches we found were only accessible with a 4x4. Some of the best food we ate was from a food truck so don't be afraid to try them!!! We are planning another trip already and I would definitely stay here again.

Vieques Family Vacation
My family of three enjoyed this property for many reasons. It was a good base to explore the island and was close enough to town for a quick run in for groceries or dinner. I loved being on the beach and taking walks each morning, looking for shells and sea glass. My 13 yo daughter (and us) loved jumping in our personal pool each afternoon after exploring the island. The beds were comfortable, the AC was cold and two bathrooms/showers is always a benefit! While the house showed some wear and tear, due to being ocean front in a tropical destination, we would return tomorrow. Thank you for a great stay!

What You See is What You Get
Check in was easy. House is exactly like picture and then some. Pool was sparkling clean. Grill was ready to go. Beach was steps away with great snorkeling further out. Lots of sea urchins but there is a path through. Beautiful flowers on the drive in. The house had beach towels, chairs, cooler, etc. Be sure to read through the binder on the coffee table. Good info! Very quiet neighborhood. Night was great. All kinds of nocturnal creatures! Big hermit crabs at night. We didn't want to leave!

Amazing adventure
My family of 5 stayed 9 nights at this beautiful property. The hosts are terrific. The view and beach is gorgeous. There are SO many things to do if you like adventures. We mostly spent the days snorkeling and perusing the many beaches of Vieques. Everyone in the community is helpful and friendly. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance. You won't regret it.

We enjoyed staying at this property. The kids loved the pool, hammock, Buddy the neighbor’s dog and the abundance of wildlife on the island. Good location to the market i.e. town grocery store and to explore the island and the beautiful beaches. Fresh produce is delivered to the grocery store on Wednesdays and Fridays, slim pickings the other days. We ate breakfast at the house and had most of our other meals out. Some of our favorites were the Tin Box, Roncari’s taco truck, Rising Rooster, Panaderia Lydia, and El Quenepo. I have food sensitivities to gluten, dairy and eggs, and struggled to find gluten free items on the menus despite searching for g/f restaurants prior to our arrival. The island is rundown, so if your looking for a posh island vacation then Vieques is not for you unless you love exclusive beaches and feeding carrots and apples to the wild horses. There was a power outage on our first night and the kids were scared, so we had to buy flash lights and ate beef jerky, yogurt and potato chips for dinner. We did not dare venture too far from the house with our cell phones losing there charge. Living room TV did not work and it wasn’t until the last day that we found all the games however, all-in-all Vieques was a wonderful vacation for our family of six.
