Quaint and peaceful accommodation

There was a refrigerator, small oven, microwave and one ring electric hob which enabled us to self cater easily. There was a supermarket within 10 minutes walk away which sold meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, beer, wine, etc . We arrived by bus from Guarda and it took about 30 minutes uphill to get to the house. Museums and Castle within walking distance so no need for a car. The house is small but everything is there for you to enjoy in a very peaceful and picturesque surroundings. The owners gave good and easy instructions regarding how to enter the property. Lovely little seating area in the back garden overlooking pleasant scenery. House in quiet part of Belmonte with no traffic noise.

Whilst everything was available for our stay, we thought the toilet/shower area a bit small. However, we were still able to use it with hot water provided both upstairs and in the kitchen area.

Inaccurate communications and other improvements needed

The view was lovely. It was clean and there was plenty of hot water.

The owner did not disclose to us that the would be major construction happening starting at 8 am in the mornings. We had booked for 2 nights and planned to spend the day resting and enjoying Belmonte. This was also during March, 2022 when the "clay rain" from North Africa spread across Europe. The air quality was so poor that people were recommended to stay indoors. The drilling, hammering and pounding next door made it impossible to stay there. The owner's response was initially that he assumed we would be away during the day as this is what most people do. Frankly, what guests decide to do when they rent a property is none of his concern. Further, in his initial emails to me he stressed that we would find the apartment very quiet and peaceful. He failed to mention only between certain hours! It was disappointing as the owner was clearly aware of the daily construction going on, but chose not to disclose this. This lack of truthful disclosure shows lack of respect and concern for others and for this reason I would not support this property in the future. Aside from my disappointment with the communications by the host/owner, the apartment was cute. It could however use important improvements. For example, there should be an area for the electric plug-in cook stove that is heat resistant and NOT located on the sink! This is extremely hazardous and would not be permitted in my home country. For the shower, there should be some type of mat other than a towel as the bathroom floor gets soaked when you have a shower. The floor is cold and wet and slippery and a soft rubber mat, or ever artificial turf of some sort would be an inexpensive but welcome improvement to help the water drain away. The bed mattress has seen better days. Also, as other reviews have mentioned, the bathroom is small and the owners are very cheap with the toilet paper. I mean seriously???
