Cozy , very updated cottage on a beautiful lake!

It is decorated so beautifully and right across the road from Crystal Lake and there is a beach.

Not sure why, but a million little bugs came inside every time we opened the door at night, even when we turned off the light.. it was very irritating and became a mess to clean up. We shared outside light with neighbors and so it was hard to keep the light off as they could turn on and off too. This is not really your fault...just nature and the time of year! We didn't know if we could use the tennis courts.

Chimney corners has everything a person needs to relax and unwind!

What a beautiful, relaxing place to stay. Drinking our morning coffee in the swing looking out at the lake was the most scenic view. The hiking trails leading up to the views of the lake were wonderful! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We wished we could have stayed the entire vacation here. We’ll be back for sure !

Charming and magical place in an idyllic and peaceful setting!

I chose Chimney Corners Resort as the place to celebrate my partner Jennifer's 50th Birthday and also to propose to her after eight years together as a couple. We stayed at the West Hills 1 cabin, which was directly across the street from Crystal Lake, and had a lakeview out of our living room window. The cabin was well-appointed, very clean and cozy, and came with all of the kitchen amenities (including a large coffee maker). The bed was very comfortable. It is perfectly located on Crystal Lake, and we had Jenn's birthday dinner at Rocks Landing, which was literally right across the street from our cabin. The place is also close to Lake Michigan beaches at Frankfort, where there was plenty of restaurants and a grocery store for supplies. In addition, it is less than an hour drive from Traverse City, where we got some great Cornish pasties and then drove up the Peninsula that divides East and West Grand Traverse Bay (which was fun to explore!). I would highly recommend Chimney Corners Resort as a perfect getaway for couples, and we definitely plan on returning there again, as our stay was fantastic!

The only downside of the whole experience was not with the property itself or the amenities or location. For those who choose to stay there, bear in mind that the restaurants/pubs/bars in Frankfort all close early (between 8-9 pm), so plan accordingly!

Serenity with a gorgeous view

The place is very clean, and cozy. It is very well equipped, they do think about everything, even the small details (bottle opener). I called before arriving, and the lady on the phone was super kind and helpful. The place is easy to find, it's next to the road. Very pleasant stay.

Nothing, we just had a question about being able to drink water from the tap, and how to operate the fire place. Maybe some more detailed instructions would helpful. However, this is by no means a turn down to stay at this place again! Highly recommended.

Very Nice Stay

We traveled north to look at the fall colors and explore. There was plenty to do in the surrounding areas. At the end of the day it was nice to go back and enjoy the view of the lake from our apartment.

Poor

We didn't eat breakfast. Comments anout location are below. The room was very comfortable, the towels soft & plentiful. They really need a power strip in the room because we could only find 5 outlets. There were 2 more in the bathroom.

Location was terrible! We arrived after dark. The directions told us to go halfway up the hill to the Lodge Apartment. There were 2 left turns on the way up the hill & we had no idea which to take. After that there was a right turn. It was dark so we couldn't see anything. Thankfully other guests were out for a walk & us find our unit. Directions should have said "Go up the hill to the big wooden sign, turn right, turn right again into gravel parking lot." It was a very frustrating experience driving around in the dark not knowing where we were going.

Good family experience but a little renovation needed on the property.

The location is great. The views are nice.

The property needs some renovation work. Bathroom can be really updated. So can the doors; both indoor and entrance.

Gorgeous, “crystal” clear lake!

Great location, beautiful clean and clear lake, great amenities.

Very satisfied.

Great location. Clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. We liked the stocked kitchenette. It made a quick breakfast very doable.

Price was a little high but comparable to other properties in the same location.

What a great place to stay!! Clean, on the beach and activities for everyone. No TV which is what drew me to it. Just overall a great place to stay! Close to a lot of places to visit.

The location was the ultimate with Crystal Lake out your front door, Lake Michigan a couple of miles away, and Sleeping Bear Dunes right up the road. We also liked the feel of an old style resort.

Delightful. We hope to be back.

Our apartment was very clean. The view was incredible. The beds were very comfortable. Easy check-in and check-out. We hope to be back next fall.

The curtains in the bathroom were too sheer and lacking in the bunk room. We could not find anything to scrub dirty pans with beyond one dishcloth. We could have used steel wool or a scrubbing sponge. The rest of the kitchen was well stocked, organized, and very clean.
