Great location, close to town centre, lovely cottage with everything we needed

The location is perfect and the room sizes ideal for a family.

We had several maintenance issues that we had to fix ourselves. We did get a response from the management company but each time it was “I’ll tell the owner.” The whole place needs a deep clean. Gone downhill since our last stay.

Location, really like the size of the property and that’s it’s dog friendly.

That the front bedroom windows don’t open, it was too hot and stuffy. Ironing board, the cover was massive and didn’t fit all the clothes had lines on them from the metal. The shelve in the fridge door wasn’t deep enough and when you open it all the bottles fell on the floor causing one to smash.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in Whitby; good location, spacious cottage, reasonable price, comfy beds, nice bedrooms, clean bathrooms and some essentials items available in the cottage upon arrival. Great cafe about 30 seconds away. Good WiFi.

The downside however was the cleanliness which we felt was quite poor overall. The cottage is in need of a significant DEEP clean and some TLC. The floors, carpets (upstairs) and rug (living room) are stained, dirty and not well maintained. There was a spillage in the living room floor next to the sofa that hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. There is a build up of dirt on the kitchen floor next to a cupboard. It is definitely not a property you’d want to walk around downstairs without slippers/ socks. Given the rule of dogs not being allowed upstairs we expected the carpets to be clean and the overall cleanliness to be of a better standard. We ensured the dog was in a crate overnight to ensure she remained off rugs and carpets which was almost unnecessary given she is well behaved and the downstairs wasn’t clean. Windows are very dirty and thick layer of dust in the draws. Kettle could do with replacing, rust inside. Cushions on the sofa really need washing. Properly is listed as dog friendly but it took me messaging 3 times for a response around whether it was ok for the dog to come. I was only told a few days prior we had to pay another £20 which again shouldn’t be the case if a property is listed as animal friendly.
