Great and friendly staff, good breakfast. Nice big shower, I would characterize the water as pulsing hot. Nice market right across the street.
Room faced a busy road. This isn't the hotels fault, and if you can just skip Ambato. Unsafe city, nothing really of value. The hotel is fairly out of the way and did not feel safe walking around. Difficult if not impossible to get help from anyone about the bus to Baños. Your best option is to go to the road that leaves to Baños and flag down a bus. I can't imagine many people are staying in Ambato so seek options in other towns.

A very decent place to stay in Ambato. Easy walking distance to the central part of town, also good for visiting the local botanical garden (but probably best to take taxi anyway, unless you will walk anywhere as I do). There is a market around the corner on the next street (super fruit for super prices). There is an in-house restaurant that serves a bit more posh fare, and also a local type cafe attached to the property that sells local specialities for your average local prices. All in all, there is not much you need not to be found in close proximity. TV with cable channels, comfy bed, free good toiletries. Welcoming staff.
The water temperature in the shower was fluctuating a bit, but within reasonable limits. Take your earplugs, you will hear some cars passing by (but not too heavy traffic).
