Located in Belfast, this charming cottage for $250 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. 2 bed, 2 bath waterfront cottage. Lots of privacy. Located just inside Belfast Harbor, right on the walking/biking trail. This waterfront cottage has use of the deep ocean water private dock for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. Kayak or paddleboard into town or walk/bike into town along the waterfront trail right from your back door. Full custom kitchen, two decks. spectacular private view. Sunsets are incredible from the back deck. Nice spacious yard and plenty of parking.

I was looking for suitable accommodations for two adults and found it. This place has a great walking path right in the back, which takes you directly into town if you are a walker this is a perfect place for you. Subfloor heating was unbelievable and keeping us nice and warm during chilly nights.

This cottage was a main stay for us in our daily sighseeing of various towns...bar harbor bangor Arcadia national park etc.Cottage was everything as described and jon very helpful. If we travel again to maine will definitely stay here

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property and would definitely stay here again. Even though it rained the majority of the time, the cottage was cozy and well appointed so it didn’t really affect our stay. Now THAT is a good rental! Jon was an excellent host and very communicative too.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jonathan’s cottage. We were lucky to have great weather for four days and spent time outside from morning coffee on the eastern patio to evening sunset, dinner and fire pit on the west side of the house. The home is nicely decorated with local art, pottery, etc and has everything one can need. The walk into town is easy along a well manicured rail trail, leading right from the dooryard. Jonathan is welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We recommend this stay without reservation.

We have been vacationing in Belfast, Maine for years and Jon's cottage was definitely a "must-go-back-to"! The photos and description gave an accurate representation of this most comfortable and convenient cottage. The kitchen appliances were awesome and the privacy of the yard made vacationing with our pooch a breeze! Having the Belfast Rail Trail at our doorstep made morning walks a must along with its proximity to downtown! Also, some great photo opps...Thanks much....we WILL be back!

We had a wonderful stay in Belfast. The town is quaint and delightful. The cottage is adorable and we had so much fun hanging out on the private dock. Such a perfect getaway!

This cottage, Forepeak, is just about perfect – love the location – Belfast is an amazing small town - if you like, the town is a short walk from the cottage on a lovely trail. The cottage is also an easy drive of much of the mid-coast (we went to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Camden, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, and Freeport). The cottage itself is so lovely – love that there is a king-size bed, a well-equipped kitchen, and laundry. The upstairs loft has a double bed and powder room. The back deck is wonderful and has a grill and chiminea. The dock is a short walk down the lawn – it’s such a peaceful place to just relax.
Jon is a wonderful host! Can’t wait to go back.

Our stay was wonderful from the time we pulled in the drive. The view of the water from the dock was absolutely beautiful. The town was very charming and we were able to drive to the adjacent cities/towns. It’s a must stay!

We loved staying here and will certainly be back! It's the perfect location with direct access to the trail, which we took to town several times. We took the kayaks out on the water and enjoyed sitting on our porch. The host, Jon, was very helpful and generous in suggesting activities and places to eat. I loved watching the blue jays, bumblebees, and even a gopher in the yard with the water view in the distance. The cottage had everything we needed. If we had stayed longer the well-appointed kitchen would have been put to use. We were here during an unusually hot week so it was warm in the house despite opening windows and using a fan. Fantastic place to stay we would recommend it without reservation!

We were very pleased with our stay at Forepeak. The cabin is cozy and well equipped. Our host, Jon, was friendly and great to work with. When Maine calls us again for a sister trip, we'll call Jon to book Forepeak!

We had an amazing time at the cottage. The property was beautiful and the short walk into town was nice. Jon was a great host and gave us the information on the property when we arrived.

Enjoyed everything about the stay. Cottage was well stocked with all essentials. The decor was adorable and the outdoor space lovely! I would. Not recommend for young kids as the loft stairs are rather steep.

Lovely clean, comfortable cottage with everything you need. Jon came down to greet us and was very welcoming. The cottage is clean and comfortable for the both of us and our 2 small dogs. We enjoyed Belfast and the surrounding area. The bike path is a stones throw away and was a lovely easy ride into town and a nice path to walk your dogs. Thank you for a nice stay.

This a small but beautifully laid out cabin with everything that we needed to enjoy the area. The owners were very available. The location is just down the street from central Belfast, with a wonderful view of the upper portion of Belfast Bay.

Loved the cozy cabin and peaceful surroundings. Enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the morning and evening and taking in the stars at night. Appreciated all the amenities like the fully equipped kitchen and washer/ dryer. Good location for walking to Belfast and driving to other coastal locations like Bar Harbor and Camden. Jon was a thoughtful and responsive host. Would love to stay here again in the future.

My wife and I spent 30 days here. It was exactly what we expected and more. The kitchen was super equipped. The location is perfect. Easy walk into town, and, Belfast is a wonder! Great restaurants, shops and local events. Yet, not overwhelmed by tourists (just some of us!). I would recommend this property to any couple traveling to Mid-Coast Maine.

We had such a wonderful week in this sweet little cottage! A perfect location just off the rail trail in beautiful Belfast - we loved being able to walk and bike into town, kayak and paddle board on the river, and take in the amazing sunsets! Private and secluded with easy access to all that mid-coast Maine has to offer. About an hour's drive to Acadia (worth it for a day trip!). The cottage is well-equipped and cozy (just right for our family of 4) and Jon is a gracious host who made us feel very welcome. We'd love to come back again sometime!

Cozy cottage
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Belfast Maine, and a lot of that can be attributed to this rental. It was the perfect size for our family, and had a very homey feel to it. Not only that, but it had a very good location; by the water, and close enough to the town to where you could bike everywhere if you wanted to.

Magical and Relaxing
We have just returned from a magical stay at Forepeak Cottage. From the moment you step through the door, you feel at home and relaxed. Jon is the consummate host, gracious and attentive without being intrusive.
As stated in a previous review, one must walk to the waterfront dock but if these two mobility-challenged 67 year olds can do it, then you can too! It is a lovely stroll and gets you to the bike path which takes you into Belfast proper where you can enjoy breakfast at Traci's or, an ice cream cone at the Wild Cow Creamery or, just shop at the lovely shops in town - plenty of treasures to be found there!
Do not miss the Belfast Harbor walk and if you can, visit the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and the tallest bridge observatory in the world!
As you can tell, we enjoyed our trip tremendously, in large part because we had a home base in Forepeak Cottage that felt like 'home' and kept us relaxed and rested for our daily adventures!

Only real concern for some would be the lack of curtains or blinds all windows other than in the bedroom and bath. So some people may have some privacy concerns. Not a deal breaker for me though.

Only possible recommendations for improvement would be a fire pit. A good campfire can be enjoyed by folks like us year round. Thanks again Jon for the fabulous getaway.
