Lovely boutique hotel with spectacular views across the Mesopotamian Plain. It’s a short walk to tourist attractions and a choice of restaurants. Breakfast and staff are lovely.

The 18th-century villa is simply stunning, one of the most beautiful architectural gems to be found in Mardin (though there are other similar mansions to chose from, many of them not advertised on Booking.com). The view is breathtaking, as well as the breakfast. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with a brilliant mix of old and new. Overall, one of the very best places to stay in Mardin.
There is no internet signal or connection on the lower floor, zero. My room was as isolated as a cave, which would have been a problem had I stayed for more than one night.
I asked reception, a few hours in advance, to organise a taxi pick-up for me at 12.50 to take me to the airport. Instead of arranging transporation straight away, they called the taxi probably last minute; I waited for 30 minutes before a member of staff came to pick me up on foot, telling me there are no taxis available. Had transport been organised in due time (or if somebody had informed me of there being none available), I would have taken the necessary precautions. The situation made me arrive 40 minutes late to the airport, and I missed my flight.
Worst thing - a seasonal employee (waitor/assistant) was acting very irritated, disrespectful and almost openly hostile while I was organising transportation with the receptionist via Google translate. He was also laughing at and making fun of a gay couple as they passed by (which is all the more insolent given they were staying in the Master suite and daily contributing more than the said employee's monthly wage). If I were the manager, the guy would have been fired and sent home on the spot.

Lovey to experience living in a mansion, beautiful views and amazing staff, the rooms all had their own character and named after a child of the owner
