The location of the property is excellent, with spectacular views and very comfortable accommodation. The host, Ravi and his team were very gracious and extremely helpful, always serving with a smile and a positive attitude. We were a group of 9 adults and they immediately did their best to make us settle in smoothly and quickly. They prepared excellent local cuisine in the evening and we had a hearty breakfast the next morning too.
The games room with a pool table and a host of table-top games was an great addition, we happily spent couple of hours unwinding there after a snow-filled trek up to the nearby Hatu Peak, the tallest peak in the state.
Lastly, Leo, their pet dog was very friendly and cute and added a nice warm touch to the overall hospitality.
The hotel is not centrally heated and the main sitting room + all rooms were pretty cold when we checked in. Though the team quickly put in electric heaters in each room (at an extra charge), it would be nice to check with guests at the time of booking itself whether they would like to have heaters in their rooms and upon confirmation, have the rooms pre-heated couple of hours before the guests arrive to make them warm and cozy.
Also, having only very cold water in the bum-washer hand-spray in the toilet was a bit of a bummer :):) It would be great if that water were to be a little warmer.
All very minor hiccups in an otherwise extremely enjoyable experience. Thank you Echor Backwoods team. We had a wonderful experience.
