About this apartment rental
Set in the heart of pretty Dordogne village this small holiday complex has been tastefully designed, set in its own gardens and surrounds the swimming pool. All self contained (but with possibilities for breakfast and/or table d'hôtes) and wheelchair friendly this property offers tranquility whilst being very close to all the village has to offer (pub, restaurant, bakery shop). The village is 10 minutes from the larger town of Nontron and 50 mins from Limoges airport. The cities of Perigueux and Angouleme are within 1 hour. There are local markets, fetes and concerts throughout the summer and many places of interest to visit including lakes, chateaux, caves and historic monuments. The complex is ideal for couples without or with small children.
Gite Rose is the only studio apartment in our complex (in total 31m2) and suitable for max. 2 adults. It offers a spacious room with a sitting area with comfortable armchairs, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette and a double bed. There is a separate bath room with toilet, sink and shower. There is a patio with seats and sunbeds, and a private BBQ. You can also make use of the sunbeds at the fenced swimming pool (with salted water).
You can rent the gîte based on accommodation only. But of course you can also use the possibility to enjoy daily a fresh breakfast in our breakfast room. For breakfast we will charge you an additional cost per person per day.

Notre hôtel c’était notre rayon de soleil car malheureusement le temps n’était pas vraiment avec nous.
Ester, cette femme dynamique souriante et généreuse nous a très très bien reçu et nous a donné chaque jours des conseils pour visiter cette belle région du Périgord Vert.
Hollandaise de naissance, elle vit en France depuis quelques années et nous fait partager la passion de son nouveau pays.
Cet endroit est un petit paradis pour les enfants également car tout est bien pensé pour eux aussi.
Je recommande cet endroit chaleureux et familial pour tous les amoureux du Périgord.
Vous y serez très bien reçu Ester est géniale.

We had a fantastic stay at Abjat-sur-Bandiat. The apartment was clean, big enough for a family of 4 and in a beautiful setting. Ester could not have been more hospitable, during our stay. The boulangerie and creperie across the road made it a perfect location and we really enjoyed using the bikes on site to explore the local cycle routes.

This is a very basic property that I would describe as one step above camping. It is all on one level with easy parking and very clean. The range top ran on propane. The heat takes hours to warm the room and in March the room was uncomfortably cold for the first 8 hours of our stay. After that, it was comfortable and we even had to turn the heat down.
The owner, Ester, is Dutch, speaks fluent English, and is very accommodating. The town only has about 600 people and there is really nothing to do there. It is close to Brantome and Nontron. We used it as a stop on the way to Paris from the Dordogne and to go to the Nontron knife factory. We had previously purchased a Norton carving knife and were so happy with it that we were considering steak knives. It’s supposed to be only 15 minutes from Nontron, but with narrow windy roads, it took us longer.
The property was overall accurately described except that there is no washing machine. Ester will do your wash for 2 Euros 50, but you must dry the clothes on a rack in your room.
Our one miscommunication came when Ester gave us an invoice for our stay. Apparently, she doesn’t deal with Expedia very often and did not realize we pre-paid. Once she checked with Expedia, she sent us a text complaining about Expedia’s fees rather than apologizing for her error which I found inappropriate.
We stayed two nights and I would describe it as cheap for France and you get what you pay for.
