About this cottage rental

Our spacious 3 bedroom cottage is situated on a 1-acre lot overlooking Boughton Bay. This cottage was newly built in 2019. Sandy's Beach on Boughton Bay can be accessed directly from the cottage lot. This beach is great for swimming, walking on low tide, clamming, and hunting for sand dollars. The cottage features an open concept kitchen, dining and living area with cathedral ceilings. Our kitchen will offer all appliances including a dishwasher and features a large island for entertaining. As our family loves to cook and entertain, you can be sure we will have a fully equipped kitchen. Large windows and patio and garden door allow for beautiful water views. We believe the added bonus to our cottage is the attached screened in sunroom which has ample seating for the whole family and leads out to our large open deck. While sitting on our deck, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Boughton Bay. You can enjoy sunrises, sunsets or star gazing at night. You can watch fishing boats sail in and out of Annandale Harbour. Bird watchers can enjoy a variety of birds including herons and Canada geese. Our outdoor features include deck furniture, fire pit, outdoor shower, propane barbeque, and outdoor games. The cottage includes other amenities such as washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, internet, satellite TV, DVD player, DVD movies, board games, and books. Sally's Beach Provincial Day Park which is great for collecting sea glass is a 5 min drive. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round of golf at Rollo Bay Greens (18 min drive), Brudenell River & Dundarave (29 min drive), or Links at Crowbush Cove (45 min drive) Local attractions include antique shops, artisans, kayak and paddle board rentals, Micheal Smith's FireWorks restaurant, ceilidhs, fishing harbours and beaches. Nearby towns of Souris (24 min drive) and Montague (32 min drive) offer a variety of services for your everyday needs. Charlottetown, the capital city of PEI, is a 58 min drive.

Fantastic 8 nights despite Hurricane Lee. The house and location were ideal and private. The open concept one floor layout was cozy and spacious. The owners were wonderful and easy to talk with...and took great care of us with the Hurricane threat. The location was beautiful on all days....from cloudy to rain to intense sun! The front deck was great to relax and watch the sun rise and set and on a clear night to see the immense sky and stars, and the screened porch was ideal when the mosquitoes were a little too much for us. The area because it was September was quiet and it was such a privilege to be able to feel like we had the area to ourselves.....It's a great location to get to Charlottetown (1 hour) Souris (1/2 hour) Montague (1/2 hour) or Georgetown (15-20 min) It's also very close to Michael Smith's Bay Fortune Inn/Fireworks Feast and Rollo Bay and there are many lighthouses along the eastern route. Tv/Internet/Satellite/DVR were all top notch, the kitchen was well stock with equipment and utensils, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathtub was deep and great for soaking. The amount of windows and the light in the open concept floorplan with the large island was an artist's paradise and Randy enjoyed painting from just about every window including the screened porch! Thank you Beth and Paul and Katie for being so kind and welcoming to us on this trip. You were great!!

We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Escape at the Cape. The hosts were very friendly and very responsive if we needed anything. In fact, they checked in with us during our stay. The property was absolutely stunning inside and out. It was so bright and cozy and my little ones really felt at home there. It had everything we needed for the week. We enjoyed daily swims just meters away, sea glass hunting, bonfires each night, and relaxing out in the sun porch. We had such a wonderful family vacation. Thank you Paul and Beth for being such gracious hosts and opening up your property to us.

Had such a great time. The location was just perfect. A rural setting which was great for privacy with direct access to the water and still close enough to other towns for activities and groceries. The cottage has everything you need. Thank you Paul & Beth

From the moment we arrived, we knew the stay would be perfection! The house was immaculate, and extremely well laid out, the beach was beautiful, and by the end of the week we didn’t want to leave! Beth and Paul were extremely hospitable and available! Our kids played hours of baseball in the yard and searched the beach for numerous sea glass, shells and when the tide went out, sand dollars! Souris, the town 20 mins away was perfect for all of our needs. The cottage was a perfect location for day trips to Greenwich, Basin Head for beaches and to Georgetown for deep sea fishing with Captain Perry! We had an amazing time as the cottage had something for everyone! We will for sure be back! Thank you again Paul and Beth!!!

Unhygienic and dirty conditions during a pandemic • Arrived to find feces in toilet as well as what looked like the contents of a dirty mopping bucket • Hair on the toilet seat • Hair all over the bathtub • Brown stains on several light switches • Hair all over bathroom counter top and floor • Bedding with hair • Hair on apron in kitchen drawer • Dirty barbeque; dripping tray full of grease of food residue • Crumbs in dishes including platter on counter • Numerous common surfaces that once cleaned by us showed, black, brown, or pinkish residue evidencing that they had not been cleaned or cleaned properly in a long time • Cobwebs on lampshades and in other places • Dead bugs Facilities not as advertised • No wifi for half our stay despite hosts knowing this was an issue from previous guests; despite our requests for wifi prior to confirming booking; and despite repeated emails and phone calls to the hosts for 4 days; the owners finally sent family members to come by and it took them as few minutes to fix the issue remotely by simply calling their service provider • Broken patio umbrella so it was not possible to eat on the deck on sunny days Unresponsive and irresponsible hosts • The hosts did not answer our calls the evening we arrived. We first tried to call because we had difficulty locating the property in the dark and there was no response. Once we arrived, found feces in the toilet, and saw that the bathroom was filthy, we were alarmed and did not want to stay in the house considering it was a pandemic and cleanliness is of utmost importance. The standards were below what we had ever seen even pre-pandemic. There was no answer from the hosts until the next morning. They had decided to ‘go away for the weekend’ and according to them, leave the cleaning staff unsupervised for the first time. • Our children were so disturbed that they did not want to sleep or stay in the house. As we had arrived at 10:30 p.m. and we were in a remote location without other options, we had to spend hours disinfecting the house, including cleaning the toilet and entire bathroom, kitchen, all surfaces, washing all bedding until 2 am in the morning. It was a very stressful and disturbing experience. • The property owners have refused to return the full cleaning fee or provide compensation for stay that was not as advertised. • Our family has a 5 star rating with other rental companies.
