The booking process and communication leading up to the check-in was great. The unit was very nicely furnished and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. As we were unpacking and getting situated, we found multiple bugs that looked like roaches. When we contacted the property manager, she informed us that they were palmetto bugs and that they were very common in the Carolinas and there was nothing she could do about it. She proceeded to asked me in a very condescending tone, "have you ever stayed in South Carolina before because they are everywhere." I actually have stayed in South Carolina many times and this was the first time I had ever found palmettos in the houses and units I've rented. I have been renting with VRBO for many many years and I have never experienced such a condescending, rude, unhelpful interaction. It was awful. I felt like I was bothering her. We later had issues with the keyless door code -- needless to say I was reluctant to call her -- but I did. And she never called me back. She simply texted me saying code should work...but it didn't. She also said Evolve, the property management company, would be contacting me about the palmetto bug issue and the door code. I never heard from them. Given how I was treated, I will never stay at this unit again.
