About this condo rental
Located in Kapaa, this lovely condo for $252 per night is a great option for your next trip. We have applied a 25% discount due to refurbishments to the interiors of various condos in the F building. The standard nightly rate is $255 + tax & $160 cleaning fee. The discounted rate will be $192.00 + tax and cleaning. 2 to 3 condos will be worked on at a time, some of which may have more of an impact on your stay. F203 (which is next to our unit, F204, & sets back around 25’ from our lanai) will be part of the work being done during this time. There are 17 timeshare units out of 25 units that will be renovated, two to 3 at a time. The majority of the work on these units was done in 2022. However, permits to complete all the work needed to be done were unavailable until just recently. Two to 3 units will be done at a time, some of which may have more of an impact on your stay. F203 (which is next to our unit) will be part of the renovation during your stay. All work will be on the interior of the units so noise will be kept to a minimum. During certain times of the day, you will hear some power tool noises, hammering and movement of the workers. Renovation work will not begin before 9:00 am, and will cease by 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday. No work will happen of Sundays and holidays. If you plan to be out and about during the day sightseeing and experiencing some island adventures, the construction should not impact you. However, if you just wanted to stay and relax in the condo during the day, this may not be ideal for you. Our fabulous ocean view will not be impacted in any way. ______________________________________________________________________________ Enjoy the comfort of our oceanfront remodeled one-bedroom, one bath condominium. Imagine being 75 steps away from the Pacific Ocean on the east shore of Kauai in the historical town of Kapa'a. From your private lanai with incredible views of the ocean, you can watch the sunrises and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean. Our condo is a corner unit on the 2nd floor that has been completely remodeled. The condo has a window in the eating area which allow for great cross ventilation. Custom-made cherry cabinets and granite counter tops have been installed in our fully equipped kitchen & bathroom. Porcelain tiles grace the entry, bathroom and kitchen.The bathroom has a large tiled walk-in shower with a corner seat. The condo comes with all the amenities listed above. Added amenities include a Fijitsu A/C mini-split system in the living area & bedroom, FREE SECURE WiFi internet connection, a 40" smart HD TV in the living room & a 32" smart HD TV in the bedroom (both with on-demand), beach toys, chairs, coolers, umbrellas, boogie boards, and tennis rackets for your use during your staying at our condominium. The Pono Kai resort is a non-smoking property. The resort provides a front desk that is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is onsite free parking. Each building has a coin-operated laundry facility and an elevator. The grounds are beautifully maintained with extensive grass areas, an herb garden so you can pick fresh herbs for your meals and a Koi pond. For your convenience, there is an activities desk so you can arrange for your island adventures. A workout room has also been added. There is a 7-mile multi-use coastal path just steps in front of our condo. There is a pool/spa area and 1 tennis court, 1 pickleball court, ping pong table and many other on-property activities. Thank you for lovely stay. The unit was well furnished, and the location was excellent for the beach and getting to the rest of the island. The resort is nicely maintained. We enjoyed the resident chickens, too. Great birthday celebration. Mahalo.

This was a great condo that I’m definitely interested in staying at again. I appreciated how open and minimalist the layout was while still being well equipped and furnished. Steps away from the ocean and right on the edge of historic Kapa’a, one would be hard pressed for a better location. Check-in and check-out was easy and communication with the host was smooth. 10:00 am check-out was a little early, but you can arrange later if available, and if it was that important to me, I would have. I would highly recommend.

This is a beautiful second floor condo with a direct view of the Pacific Ocean and spectacular sunrises. Pono Kai is centrally located in Kauai so trips to the north and south are easy to plan.
This condo had the perfect amount of space for 2 adults. The east facing (sunrise) living space has plenty of room to move and relax. The living room opens to a beautiful balcony with plenty of room to sit and read or just take in the relaxing views and sounds of the surf.
The kitchen is complete with everything you need to cook meals in or just to store the basics and eat out. The cherry cabinets and granite countertops make it obvious that you are staying in a quality condo.
The bedroom with a queen bed has all you need to unpack for an extended or short vacation - plenty of closet and drawer storage. Perfect sized safe tucked away in the closet. The large window opens to a rarely used walk space, but can be shaded with lovely privacy shutters.
Our favorite space was the beautiful tiled bath. The large walk-in elegant shower was the reason we chose this unit. There is plenty of counter space and more than needed storage.
Restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores, souvenir shops, bike rentals, and an ocean side bike/walk path are steps away.
Shirley was wonderful to work with. You can book with confidence when booking this condo.

We are glad we booked this place rather than a hotel for this round in Hawaii.

We’ll equipped, clean, and comfortable. The ocean view is stunning. Watch the sunrise and fishing boats leaving the adjacent small harbor. The location is perfect, easy walk down the path to several restaurants and shops. The booking and checkin process was hassle free mostly because of the excellent communication we had with our gracious host Shirley Cooney. Don’t hesitate to book this place, you won’t regret it.

The complex and the apartment is easy to find and front desk staff helpful which made check in a breeze
The apartment itself is larger than we expected a one bedroom unit to be and was comfortably furnished and well equipped and provisioned.
Sittin on balcony watch the sunrise over the sea and having coffee and breakfast was a great way to start the day.
The location of the apartment is great as well - being centrally located it was easy to explore the whole island. We have fallen in love with Kauai and will be back again - hooefully we can get ouraelves sufficiently organised to stay in Shirely's apartment again

We have no complaints, the place was exactly as advertised. We loved getting up in the morning with the beautiful ocean view. We also enjoyed some home cooked meals, having the barbecues close by was nice. Our neighbors were a little noisy at times, but there is nothing to be done about that. Those types of things are completely out of the control of Resort Staff or Property Owner, don’t call them!!! We didn’t, with all of the things we got to enjoy there was no need to be upset. I would highly recommend this place and would love to come back and stay again in the future. Mahalo Shirley and Tony!!!!!

She really wants her guests to have a fantastic stay. We investigated the island each day of our trip, except one. It was fantastic to start and end days on the lanai. A place with a great view and breezes coming off the ocean is a must in my opinion.
For those of you that like to travel to see the sites, it takes a bit over 30 minutes to get to Hanalei Bay and around 90 minutes to get to Waimea Canyon State Park from here.

We will definitely be back! Perfect location and the town of Kapa'a is so low key and wonderful! Condo was immaculate and had everything we needed. The lanai faces the ocean, the beach is just a few feet away and we walked on the path to downtown each morning. Shirley was absolutely wonderful to work with.

My husband and I had a wonderful 10 night stay. The unit was very clean, beautifully updated and decorated, and well-stocked. We enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning from the lanai with our coffee, and then heading out to walk the beautiful beachfront path that can be accessed steps from the condo. We also loved the proximity to many restaurants and shops in Kapa’a. And the beach in front of the condo is beautiful. We could not have asked for anything more! We really did not want to leave. Needless to say, we will be back!

F204 has everything needed to assure a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Views from the deck are breathtaking with furniture that is comfortable and well above average. The condo kitchen is extremely well stocked with every utensil and appliance that would be needed to cook a gourmet meal.
Extra amenities such as a library, game chest, and closet filled with beach accessories were available—and all in great condition!
I also need to mention that the furnishings and decor are truly decorator quality , no expense was spared— which ensures a pleasant atmosphere and comfort.
The location is also very convenient to town, restaurants and on the walking path. Couldn’t have wanted for more! Thank you, Shirley and Tony

The property and the condo were as described. The condo was clean and well stocked with everything we needed and the view was spectacular! Shirley checked in with us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. If we ever get back to Kauai we will definitely stay here again.

We felt very welcome from the minute we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals, there were beach chairs and plenty of towels, and it was very clean. As soon as we booked and throughout our stay, we had excellent communications with Shirley. The view was amazing! We would definitely recommend this place!

The owner was very communicative and helpful. The condo has a good beach vibe and a very nice view. We could watch the sunrise from the balcony. There is an unassigned parking spot and we never had any issues finding parking. There is also a pool and hot tub which our daughter enjoyed very much. Behind the property there is a biking/walking path (public) next to the beach which was very nice. You can rent bikes nearby.
Things that didn’t work so well:
- there was a funky smell when we first entered the condo. We bought a febreze and used it and the smell was gone in a couple of days (or we got used to it)
- the glasses and plates also had a weird smell to it
- using the washer and dryer is a pain because it’s downstairs and you have to go a few times to load to washer, then move to dryer, might need to dry a second time and then again to pick up the clothes.
- the contact person in Kauai was a bit rude
The supreme question is whether we will come back to this condo again and the answer is a strong yes. The positives overwhelm the minor negatives. We had a great time in Kauai and we hope you will too.
