About this house rental
Located in Highlands, this attractive house for $379 per night is a great option for your next trip. Tally-Ho is a family friendly, cozy cottage located in the popular Holt Knob neighborhood. Our cottage is just a short walk to historic Main Street in Highlands, NC. 50 Amp EV Charger Less then 1/2 mile from all that Downtown has to offer, and a lovely 10 minute walk to the first restaurant/bar. Our heavily wooded cottage makes you feel like you are away from it all, 150 feet above the main road and very quiet surroundings. This comfortable split level layout boasts 2 bedrooms upstairs along with the kitchen, dining room and living areas. Downstairs you will find one bedroom with a queen sized bed, plus separate bunk room with custom made bunk beds (two twins), with a full bathroom. in between The downstairs has its own, private, entrance, and is accessible via separate outdoor staircase. Central Heating and Air Conditioning added in 2016. There is also on-site laundry, a fully equipped kitchen and lots of outdoor space! Come stay in our cottage and enjoy magnificent Highlands, NC to the fullest. Bedrooms are configured with: Upstairs Bedroom 1 = 1 Queen Bed Upstairs Bedroom 2 = 2 Twin Beds **Downstairs accessible via an exterior staircase from the deck, or left side of parking pad** Downstairs Bedroom 3 = 1 Queen Bed Downstairs Separate Bunk Room = 2 twin sized beds (Bunks)- KIDS ONLY Total square footage of the entire house is approximately 1500. Comfortably sleeps, 4 adults and 2 children. House includes: * Wii Game Console with DVD Player in downstairs Bunkroom * Large selection of DVD Movies * Fast internet access * Large 50" 4k TV in the living room with a Roku attached (HuluLive) * Large 43" 4k Smart TV downstairs bunkroom * Large 40 Inch TV in one upstairs bedroom * 32 inch TV in downstairs bedroom * Parking for 3 cars maximum (gravel drive, NOTE: no street parking) * Wood burning fireplace (we do not supply wood, only burn hardwood) * Sofa and two chairs in the living area (seating for 6). Please keep in mind this is a cozy cabin meaning the rooms are on the smaller side. Other things to note - No Weddings or Bachelor/ Bachelorette Weekends, please. Neighbourhood Noise ordinance in effect at 10:00pm. -Please be aware there is a ring doorbell camera on front door and security camera on back porch door. Lastly, security sensor with decibel meter on-premises should anything need our attention. - House fits 4 adults and 2 kids - No Smoking Inside the House- $500 additional cleaning fee if rule is violated - Discounts available for weekly and monthly bookings! Other Items: 1. There is trash pickup at the street. All trash that is put in the house must be locked and latched or bears will make a mess. You are responsible for cleaning up if animals do get into trash house while you are visiting. Please also turn the sign to YES to notify trash collection there is something to pick up. Trash days are Tuesday and Fridays. 2. There are two steps to get into the house and access the main floor, living room, kitchen and two bedrooms (+two bathrooms). The third bedroom including the children's bunk room requires walking down an exterior flight of stairs. There are two exterior flights of stairs to choose from. One is to the left of the parking pad, and the other is off of the back deck. The bunk bedroom is for children only, as the bunk beds are not designed to accommodate adults. 3. The driveway can only accommodate 2 cars Our street is a circle, so you can exit the driveway going right and the street will circle around to front of the neighborhood to exit.

We stayed at Tallyho for three nights(4 adults). It’s a lovely home located close to town in one direction and waterfalls in the other!. It’s very clean and coZy with seemingly new appliances in the kitchen. Comfy beds! We especially enjoyed watching several humming birds visiting the feeder on family room window! Will is a very responsive host. A great property!

Perfect Highlands house, quick walk to town
Tally-Ho was the perfect spot for a long weekend with our family. It was a very short walk to town which was nice with a stroller, but also had the feeling up tucked away in the mountains with a beautiful view. The amenities at the house included everything we needed (kitchen appliances, hairdyrer, comfortable living space, etc) and more (highchair and great fire place). Will made communication and check in and check out very easy and flexible, which we appreciated traveling with a small baby. We would definitely want to rent Tally-Ho again with family or friends any time of the year!

Tally-ho to the Tally Ho
We loved this house! It is absolutely charming and perfectly appointed, with the right blend of antiques, charm, and comfort. The beds are so comfortable and the linens top grade. The kitchen/living room is an open concept and perfect for great conversations while meals are prepared. The kitchen is also perfectly appointed and the only noted absence was a cork screw (which we remedied, and left for the next guests). We used the wood burning fireplace two nights and it was charming -- the draft works well, so no problems with getting our little blaze going. The wifi worked liked a charm; the best connectivity I have had, which was perfect for our group of professional women that needed to stay in touch. The Holt Circle is a perfect 1.4 mile early morning walk and the glen about 1/2 way from the Tally-Ho to the right is stunning. Although close to town, we say several deer and heard something at the trashcan in the wee hours of the morning which was either a very large raccoon or perhaps a bear. (The warning about bears and trash cans are real; on the way out of town, less than a 1/4 mile from the Tally-Ho, I say two homes who had been vandalized by the local bears - - the bears had a great evening; the homeowner or renters were going to be spending some quality time on a fall day cleaning up.) Our host was equally charming, always responsive. And as an added plus, someone in the home is a Clemson graduate, which fit particularly well with one of our group, as her husband received his masters from Clemson. All-in-all, it was a lovely time. Highly recommend.

Perfect Summer Cottage
Tally-ho did not disappoint for the month we lived there. Great location to town. Really appreciated the home's design with two BR and two full bath upstairs and two BR downstairs with shared bath. Created the needed space to work remotely and privacy for guests. The wi-fi was completely reliable...the best I've had at a VRBO. The linens and furniture are high quality and comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need. My favorite part was all of the outside living spaces that were rain proof. (Front Porch, Covered Back Porch and Screened Porch) The cottage does not have mountain views but you feel like you are living in a tree house. It is glorious. The Host is great, friendly and very responsive. We would definitely return!

Wonderful home for a getaway!
House was spot on to the photos, and just a short distance from downtown. Walkability was tremendous, and decor was so nice my sister and wife kept commenting on pieces throughout the stay. Owner’s communication is timely, prompt, and a joy to rent from. To be honest, on of the best VRBO experiences to date. 11/10 would stay again, and most likely will soon.

Fabulous Highlands Getaway
I almost don't want to write this review, because I don't want it to be booked out the next time we come into town! This place is wonderful. Traveling with our two dogs, we're very familiar with "pet friendly" homes. They're either not pet friendly or just a little run down/not quality. Tallyho is NOT any of these things. It's charming, spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The back deck was great for us and the dogs to sit out on, even if a little chilly. The kitchen was well stocked, beds comfortable & towels thick & cozy. You can tell that the property owners take great care of this home. Location, of course, is fantastic. Check in was easy. This also would be a great home for two families with the downstairs area. Because it was just two of us, we only went downstairs to do laundry - but the house would be great for a couples weekend or someone with little ones. Overall, great stay and will hopefully be back soon.

A perfect birthday in Highlands
Tally-Ho is a great place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Highlands. The kitchen is well stocked and the owners had a lot of good movies on hand. The furnishings of the house is very nice; and all of the beds were extremely comfortable. We loved that we were five minutes from the cute shops and incredible restaurants. We would certainly book this house again.

My husband and I and our four kids just got back from a long weekend at Tally-ho and can't say enough good things. The house is adorable. It appears to be recently renovated/updated.
They have done an amazing job of decorating and making the (small-ish) space totally functional while also being completely cozy and inviting. They are a 10 minute walk to town in a quiet neighborhood.
My husband and I and our youngest stayed on the main floor while our older 3 (ages 6, 8, 10) stayed downstairs. Do note that the downstairs is not connected by an interior staircase- you have to go outside to the covered back porch and down the outside stairs to get there. My kids thought this was awesome and felt like they were old enough to be in their "own" space but may be an issue for kids who don't have the same independent (rebellious?!) streak! We will definitely be back!
