Situated in Massies Mill, this lovely cabin for $175 per night is a great option for your next break. Spicewood cabin is located in the heart of scenic Nelson County. Our family owned property is nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains situated right on beautiful Harpers Creek! Recently renovated, this 100 year-old cabin provides all the charm you would expect yet it is paired with modern amenities that will make your stay comfortable, cozy and relaxed. Spicewood cabin is a one story home making it family friendly, and accessible to those who aren't fond of stairs! We are only 16 miles from the base of Wintergreen Ski Resort which offers skiing, snowboarding, hiking, dining, family events and more! For our hiking friends, we are only 1/2 mile to an Appalachian trail head that will put you on the path to hike the summit of either The Priest or Three Ridges. In addition, we are only 5 miles to the magnificent Crabtree Falls, one of the tallest, cascading waterfall sets this side of the Mississippi! If fishing is your thing, we are located on Harpers Creek (trout stocked) and about a 50 yard walk from the Tye River. Our secluded property invites guests to sit back and stargaze next to the firepit while enjoying a glass of wine, making s'mores or cooking out on the provided grill. Dining in or dining out? Totally up to you as we are within 15-20 minutes from the Brew Trail in Nellysford, Va. Enjoy local brews, wines, ciders and food in beautiful mountain scenery! Devil’s Backbone, Blue Toad Cider, Bold Rock Hard Cider and many more are only a short scenic drive away! Unplug and unwind from the hurried life and enjoy the sounds of nature that surround you at Spicewood cabin. You will thank yourself!

Everything was exceptional! A beautiful combination of cabin life with modern amenities! No signal, no problem! We LOVED being so remote and “shut off” from the world to rest and recharge. Have a map handy just incase you decide to venture out…. and find a way to embrace the barkers up the street… Otherwise, it was an incredible stay with EVERYTHING we needed to feel at home! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. From the creek on the property to the river 100 yards away, it was all a blast. We hiked to the top of the gorgeous Crabtree Falls. Sad to see the orchard up the road (does not belong to the cabin owners) closed and all the apples just falling on the ground and rotting away. Seclusion at its finest. Only very tiny change I would make is to somehow put a method in to check the weather! We had a storm roll through, and we had no idea how severe it was or how long it would last. We couldn't tune in a radio station and didn't have cell service (which was great besides the weather thing).

It was great to be disconnected for a bit where the phones didn’t work and we could engage as a family. We played games and roasted marshmallows. It was a great time.

We stayed here for two nights- were planning to camp nearby but the weather was not favorable. This location was perfect and the cabin was so cute. We enjoyed coffee/reading on the porch in the morning and smores around the fire at night. The kids loved the hammock and the creek. It is close to several great hiking trails and breweries. We will definitely stay again.

The Garagno family was so easy to work with, very informative and prompt with replies to my questions. The cabin was amazing, the backyard with the fire pit was amazing and the river running through the backyard was paradise. Can’t wait to go back!

We highly enjoyed our stay at Spicewood Cabin. The creek was so peaceful to listen to. The only request my husband had to go away was to stay by a creek and it delivered. We loved the wood stove and the cabin. We had everything we needed. Also enjoyed Crabtree falls meadow and the excursion to the top of the mountain. It’s nice to unplug and relax in nature. Thank you for a lovely stay! We will be back again

We loved everything about this sweet little place. Everything was explained nicely. House was stocked with all the essentials and the coffee in the morning was a great touch. I love the little details everywhere. The creek in the back is a wonderful place to start your day. The fire area was wonderful. I loved relaxing in the hammock after hiking each day. Unplugging was a game changer. I even got my husband to play board games one night. There are some hunting dogs that live up the road and if the winds just right, you can hear them. Beyond that there are so many trails nearby. It's so peaceful. If you have a 4wd dare yourself to follow the Crabtree meadows parking lot signs a few miles up the road. You drive until the last 1 1/4 miles to the top and hike the rest. Great adventure. We will be back!

Staying here has become a fall tradition for us, and Spicewood Cabin never fails to disappoint! The owners obviously have put love and care into making guests as comfortable as possible—thinking of every possible detail to make the cabin a “home away from home”!

Perfect Storybook Cottage
We had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful cottage. The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable and inviting and the setting is beautiful. I loved the surrounding mountains and creeks. We spent a day visiting nearby breweries and wineries and another full day hiking. There was plenty to keep us busy. We finished each night around the campfire back at the cottage. It was so nice to relax and unplug.

Perfect Getaway
My wife and our hoard of children, all 10 and under, traveled to this quaint getaway and loved it. The home was clean and was just the right setup for intimate family time. No wifi and a small home meant that every activity was a family one. Games, movies, fire pit, playing sports and tag in the yard, sitting by the creek, it was a perfect getaway. It was also close enough to activities like Liberty Sportsplex and snowtuning at Wintergreen that it allowed us to have fun away from the cabin as well.
We had minimal issues while there. Our only issue was that the wood pieces for the firepit hadn't been split, but when we contacted the Gargano's, we received a prompt reply and a swift resolution to our issue. I recommend this place 1000x over. Thank you.

Last minute rental to meet up with family at Wintergreen. Although only about 12 miles its around the other side of mtn so more like30 to 40 min drive. Otherwise it was great, had everything we needed. Little dusty and smoky so beware if any in your party have severe allergies.

Amazing!
We were a little cautious about the whole no cell phone and WiFi but it was so nice to disconnect! The property itself was gorgeous the rooms and bathrooms big. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials and the board game and DVD collection were also great. Throughly enjoyed the recommendations of things to do like Crab tree falls and Devils backbone!

Idyllic retreat
Spicewood Cabin provided a lovely space to enjoy a three day fall retreat in the Virginia Mountains. The cabin was nicely appointed and well supplied. The grounds in back of the cabin featuring a running brook. fire pit and lots of decking added immensely to the pleasure of the stay.

Nice, quaint cabin! Pretty straightforward to find. Close to all the great breweries, etc along Rt 151. Cozy living space, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and seating. Sitting by the fire in the evening is definitely the best part.

We really enjoyed our family time this weekend. The cabin was very well stocked with so many extras. Everything was clean and very easy to find (coffee, matches, grilling supplies, skewers for s’mores, paper products and the list goes on). There are 2 grills to use (propane included or bring your own charcoal). We traveled with teens, a toddler and a baby and were able to make this house work. A pack n play fit in one corner of the bedroom and the toddler was on a cot we brought in the other. There were lots of games to play in the evenings as well as lots of dvds to watch if needed (no WiFi or cell service). We had a great time playing in the creek behind the house and making s’mores in the fire pit. I loved sitting on the screened in porch and listening to the sound of the creek-so relaxing! This house is very convenient to so many things to see and do in the area. The only issue we had was with the bathroom door not closing well and being really loud to open and close which wasn’t a huge deal just annoying at times especially when the babies were asleep. Great cabin for our babies first vacation
Let me start by saying overall the cabin was great and stocked with all the needed supplies. I really appreciated they provided my morning coffee, firewood and the top cooking supplies we needed (salt/pepper). I will note, if you don’t like bugs this cabin probably isn’t for you. We came with an infant so we were on the floor a lot but it is a cabin in the mountains after all. I didn’t read the reviews enough and didn’t realize the no phone service was that serious. We didn’t print paper directions to anywhere we wanted to visit so we were lost a lot. Also as a FTM I felt a little weary not having cell service if I had an emergency BUT they did provide a land line if needed . Anyway, overall the cabin was cute as pictured and we enjoyed our mountain vacation .
