Tucked away yet just moments from Torquay harbour, this impressive period villa is a true hidden gem – perfectly suited to family holidays, multi-generational gatherings and relaxed get-togethers.

From the moment you arrive through the electric gates, you’ll be welcomed by a charming and unique feature – an original 1936 red telephone box set against a spectacular sea-view backdrop and beautifully illuminated in the evenings.

As Woodend is my family home, you’ll find it exceptionally well equipped for your stay, with everything you should need already in place. If you do require anything additional, assistance is always close by and easily arranged.

NEW FROM 4 OCTOBER 2026 – CINEMA, ENTERTAINMENT & BAR COMPLEX

An exciting new addition to Woodend for autumn 2026 is our brand-new soundproofed basement cinema, entertainment and bar complex, opening from 4 October 2026.

Designed to provide a fantastic additional space for guests to enjoy together, the basement features a dedicated cinema room with a 65-inch Sky Glass TV and new Sonos sound system, creating a superb movie and entertainment experience. The adjoining entertainment and bar area provides another sociable space away from the main reception rooms.

Importantly, the basement has been specifically designed and soundproofed to provide guests with an indoor space where they can continue relaxing, watching films, enjoying music and spending time together later into the evening, once the villa’s outdoor areas have closed for the night.

INSIDE THE VILLA

The villa offers generous, thoughtfully designed living spaces ideal for spending time together. The handcrafted kitchen features granite worktops, underfloor heating, a range cooker and a large breakfast island, fully equipped for family cooking and entertaining.

The adjoining reception rooms create over 36 feet of flexible living space and open directly onto the sea-facing terraces – perfect for long lunches, evening drinks and relaxed gatherings.

The villa comfortably accommodates larger groups across six spacious bedrooms, five of which are en-suite, including several enjoying beautiful sea views. Multiple bath and shower rooms provide plenty of comfort and convenience for larger family groups.

POOL, HOT TUB, OUTDOOR BAR & GARDENS

Outside, Woodend really comes into its own. The 11.5-metre heated infinity swimming pool, maintained at approximately 29°C when open, enjoys wonderful views towards the coastline. Alongside it is a hot tub heated to approximately 40°C and a covered outdoor bar area, creating a fantastic setting for families and friends to relax together.

The extensive grounds include multiple terraces, fruit trees, a large lawn for games and a private pathway leading down towards Meadfoot Beach.

Please note that the outdoor swimming pool is seasonal and closes each year from 15 October until the end of November, reopening from 1 December. The hot tub remains available year-round.

To respect our residential setting, the swimming pool, hot tub, outdoor bar and outside entertaining areas close at 10pm and must not be used after this time. Our new soundproofed basement cinema and entertainment complex provides the perfect indoor space for guests to continue enjoying their evening after the outdoor areas close.

PRIVACY & THE GROUNDS

The villa itself is private and self-contained, with guests having exclusive use of the main house, swimming pool and principal gardens.

The wider grounds also include two separate cottages and a self-contained flat. The occupants are long-term, trusted friends who are very respectful of guests’ privacy. They may occasionally use parts of the driveway and a small section of the entrance garden, but the main living areas, pool and terraces are entirely for guests’ use and feel very private.

If I’m not around, they are always happy to assist if needed, and one also acts as housekeeper should anything arise during your stay.

EXPLORE THE ENGLISH RIVIERA

Torquay forms part of the renowned English Riviera, known for its mild microclimate, beautiful beaches, waterside restaurants, harbour, marina and spectacular coastal walks.

Woodend’s location provides an excellent balance: peaceful and private when you are at the villa, while Torquay harbour, marina and town centre are all within easy reach. It is also an ideal base from which to explore the wider South Devon coastline.

A NOTE ON THE STYLE OF STAY

Woodend is a much-loved family home and is best suited to guests looking for a high-quality, relaxed coastal stay with excellent facilities.

It is not a party house and parties or additional external guests are not permitted. Due to our residential setting, we ask all guests to be particularly considerate of our neighbours and keep outside noise to a minimum.

All outdoor entertainment finishes at 10pm, after which guests are asked to move indoors. The new soundproofed basement cinema, entertainment and bar complex has been created specifically to give guests a fantastic additional area to enjoy later in the evening without disturbing the surrounding neighbourhood.

GUEST EXPERIENCE

Guests are personally welcomed on arrival and shown around the property to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay. Where possible, flexible check-in and check-out times can also be arranged.

I deliberately limit the number of times Woodend is let because it remains our family home, so availability can be restricted. Early booking is therefore recommended, particularly for larger family stays and peak dates.
