Our family wanted to spend a day in the Soberania National Forrest during our trip to visit family in Panama City. Rather than stay the resort, which appeared to be one of few options available for a family of 5, we opted to look for a short term rental that would give us a more authentic experience of staying in the area (my abuelito grew up in Gamboa). We liked that the house was large and had lots of space for our children to run around. There were board games to play, and the home is a 10 minute walk from the local store and restaurant in town. The host was very kind and communicative, and we loved that the home was within a short drive of several hiking paths and canal sites.
While the home is large and spacious, it could use some updating and cleaning. The home is nearly 100 years old (we love old homes!), and despite the description suggesting that it has been renovated, it didn't feel like any updates had been made since the home was built. It also felt like the home hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. There were clean linens and towels, but it appeared that the floors had not been swept, there was old food stuck to the stove, and the table were covered in ants. We had to do some scrubbing before using the kitchen and bathrooms. This home would be perfect with some upgrades and a deep clean.
