Casa Tropical - Gardens & Wildlife @ Manuel Antonio's Hill Top Hidden Paradise
About this house rental
Situated in Quepos, this attractive house for $290 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Wow! Santa Fe style Casa Tropical offers quite a unique setting and hill top seclusion and privacy at the end of a residential road on an acre amongst the gardens and forest in Manuel Antonio. The full covered roof top terrace provides 360 degree spectacular views of the lush forest and gardens, the Pacific in the distance to the west and the 4,000 feet above sea level Talamanca Coastal Range to the east. The seclusion of the house and higher elevation provides a daily abundance of wildlife. Casa Tropical’s owners as of May 2017 have spent 10 years vacationing in Manuel Antonio and regularly visit the house. Casa Tropical has an excellent rental history and provides over 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space. The view to Casa Tropical’s west is towards the Manuel Antonio coastline and to the northeast the Talamanca Coastal Range behind the town of Quepos. Morning coffee on the roof top terrace, with ceiling fans and a bar is a must! Squirrel and capuchin monkeys are regular visitors from the adjacent lush forest. The wildlife watching from the roof is excellent with scarlet macaws introduced from a sanctuary very close to the property, as well as many toucans, parakeets and parrots regularly seen. On occasion even sloths are on or near the property. Even though most is here, we still recommend a walking tour of Manuel Antonio Park with Henry though! Casa Tropical is a very unique property and the "high ground" has its tremendous advantages! Surrounding the home on the main and lower levels are covered tiled patio areas with ample outdoor seating surrounded by meticulous mature gardens. Ceiling fans were added to the main floor patio for additional comfort and new patio furniture (not pictured) has been added. The pool is family sized with large pool deck and nice pool chairs and umbrellas. Choose from numerous lounge chairs or hammocks throughout the property for your afternoon siesta. The main upper floor of the home boasts a fully functional kitchen with gas range, full size refrigerator as well as an outdoor BBQ for meal preparation. There is also comfortable family room area with a 50” TV, DVD player and upgraded WIFI and a washroom. Air flow from the breeze on top of the hill, combined with the ceiling fans, open concept windows and doors provide a very comfortable main floor. Up to 12 can sleep comfortably in the 4 bedrooms on the ground level floor, with air conditioning in each of the 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own washroom while the three bedrooms share a washroom. Three of the bedrooms also have direct outside access to the lower covered deck. Ensuring everything goes as planned on your vacation and adding to your security, Andres, Ania and Kassandra separately reside on the property (but you would hardly know they are there, until you need something!) and have for over 15 years. Andres can arrange van transportation to and from the airport, or other parts of Costa Rica. Whatever tours or activities you desire, Andres will provide his recommendations and arrange. Most tours provide pick up and drop off at the house. The always helpful Andres loves the property and wildlife and will go out of his way to identify the birds and animals for you. Ania and Kassandra provide regular housecleaning and laundry services for your personal laundry used while there. If you require laundry on arrival from your stay in another part of Costa Rica it can be sent out to an outside laundry service. Ania and Kassandra are excellent cooks and it can be arranged for them to prepare an excellent traditional Costa Rican meal at a reasonable price for you as well. We hope your stay at Casa Tropical is your best vacation yet! Pura Vida!

Our stay at Casa Tropical was delightful! The house was perfect for our two families (8). My favorite spot was the rooftop deck where I spotted Scarlet Macaws, toucans, beautiful sunsets, and even a summer storm. The kids loved the pool, but what we loved most of all were our dinners from Ana and Kassandra. They prepared the best food we ate in Costa Rica. Andres did an excellent job of arranging our tours. The white water rafting trip was our favorite followed very closely by the tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. We had a wonderful vacation and if we find our way back to Costa Rica we would love to stay at Casa Tropical again.

We want to stay in Costa Rica in a house and experience the local flavor without staying in a fancy all-inclusive.
We loved the beauty of the house and nature and even had monkeys come up to the house in three different days.

We felt at home at Casa tropical with the best scenery. All accommodations that we needed were at our fingertips. If we needed groceries it was only a phone call away. The house had many charming qualities but the pool was the best. My 3 yo especially loved it and wanted to go in it everyday. By the pool you would get monkey, bird and iguana friends to visit. It was an adventure for sure. I would stay at Casa tropical again!

We so enjoyed our time at Casa Tropical! The house is immaculate and well taken care of. There are lots of cozy places to sit and enjoy the lovely grounds, full of a large variety of plants. The roof top area is terrific. You can see the ocean past the forest treeline one direction, and mountains the another. We spent every lovely morning there. We saw many birds (maccaws, tucans, etc.) And heard howler monkies. The pool is wonderful too. The house is not far from the main road, but I would want a car. The drive is easy once you do it a couple times. The area is very convenient to town and to Manuel Antonio and all the resteraunts, grocery stores, etc. We have been lucky enough to stay here before and hope to do so again! Andres was helpful setting up excusions and answering questions. Costa Rica and this house are favorites of mine. Dont hesitate to book!

We went to decide if we wanted to bring children and grand children for our next family vacation. The house and location were perfect. The property manager Andres arranged everything for us (tours, taxis, shuttle to and from airport), no vehicle was necessary. Andres is a hobby birder and called in many different birds to our patio. He took us out one evening to show us the red-eyed tree frogs. Our tour with Steve into Manuel Antonio was icing on the cake. We considered going without a guide and realized after 5 minutes in the park what a mistake that would have been! We found both types of sloth, holler and white faced monkeys plus reptiles galore. The house is exceptionally clean and peaceful. We spent most of our time on the roof top deck watching what Costa Rica would bring to us. We will definitely return!

Pictures are not enough to describe this beautiful property! We are a multi-generational family of 9 with 6 adults and 3 small children. There is plenty of room to spread out.The house, pool and grounds are impeccably kept. And the rooftop terrace make this superb location extra special. Also recommend having Ana and Kassandra prepare dinner. Andres is always nearby to answer questions. If driving, approach up the road to the house is a little tricky. Very easy after the first time. Hope to return!

Simply amazing place to stay. Breakfast on the rooftop while tropical birds (toucans, etc.) perch nearby. Pool was enticing—clean, beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous flowers. We spent lots of time in the pool!
We saw a monkey on the porch one morning. Nice furniture, great air conditioning and we’ll decorated inside. The host set up a few tours for us, which was very helpful. This place was such a delight to stay in, it was a highlight of our trip for us.
Only suggestion for improvement is that the directions to the house could’ve been described more clearly. It took us a couple wrong turns before we got there. But it was worth it!!

Our family of 5 with 3 teenagers loved our stay here! House was clean, with comfortable bedrooms and 3 nice bathrooms, and a bonus sink area between bedrooms. Kitchen was nice with ice and cold water from fridge (but like many tropical areas impossible to keep bugs away so seal up food tight). Property managers did tidy up one day while we were out which was very nice! The outdoor space here was the main attraction. We were visited by a troop of white faced capuchin monkeys and a troop of squirrel monkeys, so fun!! We saw scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, and too many other birds to list as well as many iguanas and lizards. The rooftop patio had amazing views with ocean in one direction and mountains in another. Many seating options all around the house to enjoy the views and the pool was beautiful and refreshing.
Location was great (although road to house a bit hard to find and have to navigate rough roads), it feels remote but still very close to town and attractions including Manuel Antonio National Park and the beautiful beaches.

Wonderful house for 10 people. Very private, lots of wildlife. AC works great in the bedrooms. The upper level is the star of the house. We saw macaws, toucans, monkeys, and lizards. The pool is great too. Eveyone loved it. The host is an excellent communicator and Andres the Host takes great care of you.

This house had everything we needed. Plenty of bedrooms for a family of six or more . A nice living rooms and sitting place inside. Lots of outdoor seating to view the amazing tropical property. Top floor 360 view open patio was definitely a morning and evening favorite spot. Property manager was helpful before and during the trip with absolute everything.

The property is gorgeous, Andres, Kassandra, Ana were wonderful people and hosts, Stephen a great and organized owner. The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 teenagers. We enjoyed the monkeys, pool, serene area, and especially our two dinners with those three! An experience to remember with joy!

We absolutely loved Casa Tropical. Everything was so well taken care of and spotless. Andres and Steve were great to work with and Kassandra and Anna were so sweet and kind. I highly recommend this property.

A true tropical paradise! So peaceful and beautiful! So enjoy the many birds, monkeys and iguanas on the property. Andres, Cassandra and Anna were very gracious to attend to our needs and the ladies cooked a delicious dinner our last night . Would definitely like to return in the future!

We were so lucky to find Casa Tropical. The house is tucked in the trees at the end of the road,
so, the wildlife is abundant. We got up every morning at 5 am to sit on the roof and watch Toucans, Macaws, Parrots, monkeys and birds too numerous to mention.
Anna and Andres were great host, arranging our transportation to and from the airport and anywhere we needed to be. Andres was available and answered any questions we had quickly. They made traveling by ourselves, without our spouses or family, feel safe and easy.
The house is clean and well provisioned. There is lots of room. The gardens and pool are lovely. The pictures do not do justice. The 360 view from the roof is amazing.
I would highly recommend doing tours with local guides. They see so much we would have missed, and they were so pleasant. Edgar with Jade tours spent 7 hours showing us birds I did not know existed. Cara and Leo welcomed us to their river property where we hiked, did yoga on a platform in the trees, and swam in a waterfall. We had a wonderful trip and the house was the best location to be in. Thanks, Steven, for sharing this gem.

Just a stunning house at the top of a hill with amazing views. Tricky little road to get to it but you are rewarded with the views and lack of city/traffic noise. Every morning we would wake to the sounds of howler monkeys and see countless birds, including parrots and scarlet macaws. Squirrel and Capuchin monkeys run right through the property. House is spotless and well equipped. AC in all the bedrooms for restful sleep and neat open but screened windows in the living room and kitchen. Pool was as warm as the air and the kids loved it. highlight of our trip. Our last day, we didn't even leave the house.

After weeks, I am still missing and pining for Casa Tropical. Its in my dreams and the memories are still percolating amongst all of us. Iguanas in the gutters, parrots in the trees, toucans visiting at breakfast and frogs on the table in a massive thunderstorm on the roof. The house and the people caring for it and its guests are impeccable. We will be back and I cant hardly wait. .

We loved our stay at Casa Tropical! Andres was good to communicate with and welcomed us when we arrived. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed relaxing on the verandas and in the pool. The road up the hill was a bit rough, but manageable and it was only a short drive to Quepos and Manuel Antonio park. Would stay again for sure.

Our family loved Casa Tropical! The accommodations surpassed our expectations. We loved the animal visits - squirrel monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, and much more! We were ready to stay forever by the time our trip was over. We hope to return in the future!

Stunning place. Balconies everywhere including the fantastic roof top patio. Pool was perfect for our kids. House set up was perfect. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful home! The home was very clean with a wonderful kitchen! We meant to go to Manuel Antonio but after seeing all the wildlife surrounding us we decided to skip it. We saw white face and squirrel monkeys jumping through the trees for 2 days. My kids loved sitting on the top deck watching them. We say scarlet macaws, toucans, green parrots and many other birds. Iguanas in the trees and on the roof. We would leave to the beach but our kids always wanted to just hang at the house and swim in the pool. A great way to finish our trip to Costa Rica after traveling and touring other areas of the country. Thank you so much!

Fantastic place to stay. Beautiful home and gardens. Pool was lovely and rooftop patio in the morning was perfect for morning coffee and viewing birds. We saw scarlet macaws, green parrots and iguanas. Andres and Kassandra and Anna were all very nice and helpful. We could not have asked for anything more in a rental property. We followed their recommendation for a tour and used Henry who was also great!

The views from the rooftop deck were incredible-perfect place to have my
Morning coffee and just to hang out! The house was exactly as advertised. Andres and family were very helpful. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

We were a group of six, 4 adults and 2 teenage boys. The house had something for everyone. My son and his family enjoyed the pool and loved watching the World Cup and a few movies on the TV. My husband and I loved the top floor balcony. We could drink our coffee in the morning and enjoy a Happy Hour while watching the toucans and macaws. There was a very nice restaurant within walking distance down the hill. Andres was very helpful and arranged some very nice tours for us. It was nice to have the option to have dinner prepared for us. The only reason I gave only 4 stars for the listing was because when we arrived we found out that we would be charged for any laundry we had when we arrived. (we paid $28).I could have easily avoided that situation had I known beforehand. But overall we loved the house and it suited our needs. Large enough for everyone to have their own space and lots of fun areas to spend downtime.

Casa Tropical is a BEAUTIFUL property - pictures do not do it justice. Property feels private and safe, but also just a quick taxi drive into Quepos or Manuel Antonio. Bedrooms each have their own AC unit so sleeping is very comfortable. Our group enjoyed spending time on the roof and watching the birds, iguanas, and monkeys. Andres was incredibly helpful to us throughout our staying- organizing our airport shuttle, taxis, and booking the tours. Kassandra is lovely and did a wonderful job checking in on our space everyday, even unloading our groceries for us as well as doing some laundry for us. We did lose power a couple of times but that is just the nature of vacationing in the rainforest! We loved our stay and would definitely stay at Casa Tropical again.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Tropical. It is such a beautiful location, with an amazing view of the forest, ocean, and mountains. We saw more animals around the property than we saw in our visit to Manual Antonio. Binoculars are a must. Even though it was the rainy season, the weather was such that we had plenty of sunny time to enjoy the pool.

Absolutely stunning house, the grounds are gorgeous and impeccably maintained. Andres was very informative and helpful. The daily visits from the Scarlet Macaws was amazing. We also spotted a sloth thanks to Andres. We had an amazing time!

We had an amazing time at Casa Tropical! Andres was extremely communicative and helpful in setting up all of our activities, and he even gave us a lesson on how to spot the animals near the house! The house itself is gorgeous and was equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip!

We loved our stay here. The property is magical, it was just our immediate family, we could have fit two additional families quite easily but it was so nice to be able to relax, swim in the pool, enjoy the amazing view, cook in the large kitchen and observe all of the abundant plant, bird, and monkeys that came for a visit. Really close to the park and Andres helped arrange a tour of the park. I really wanted to stay forever, what a magical place, in a magical part of Costa Rica. Highly recommend!

Such a unique experience
Our family of 10, including 4 children, had the most memorable of getaways as Casa Tropical. What an amazing property — not sure if the online pics can do it justice. We felt we’ll taken care of from the help from Stephen pre-vacation to our interactions with Andres and family during our stay (including 2 delicious meals, generous laundry services, and coordination/advice on excursions). We would all return in a heartbeat.

This was our third trip to Costa Rica but the first time renting a house. The experience couldn’t have been better! Our family of 7 adults and one eighteen-month-old loved our time at Casa Tropical celebrating my husband’s and my 50th wedding anniversary. Before we arrived, the owner of the house was very responsive to my various questions and also arranged for a baby gate to be installed at the top of the stairs from the main floor down to the bedrooms for which we were very grateful. From the lush tropical gardens to the airy open-plan main living area with its’ wrap around terrace to the fabulous pool to the roof deck with its’ panoramic view, we each found a favorite spot to relax. My sister actually slept on the roof several nights! The pool has been redone recently and has seating and a shallow section which was perfect for our granddaughter who overcame her dislike of pools! Andreas, the property manager, was awesome and made everything so easy for us. When the first group of us arrived in the evening after a long day of travel, he helped us get basic groceries (and cold beer!) delivered and arranged for dinner delivery. He also arranged to have our rental car both delivered to and picked up at the house and helped us plan our excursions. Some of us did a wonderful jungle night tour with Henry, which we highly recommend, as well as his tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. Other excursions were a boat ride in the mangrove forest and to Nauyaca waterfall, again arranged by Andres. For our anniversary celebration, Ana and Kassandra cooked us an amazing meal; Ana’s guacamole is the best I’ve ever had. All in all, we had a magical 10 days at Casa Tropical and hope to return again. Pura Vida!

After months of searching for the perfect home base to explore Manuel Antonio, Quepos and the vicinity, we selected Casa Tropical and couldn’t be happier with this decision. The location is private, secure and yet close to everything. A car would be ideal but you could make it work without as well. A sedan made it up and down the hill to the house without a problem.
Our group of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids ages 8-15) slept comfortably. We enjoyed the private pool a great deal and the rooftop deck is amazing for morning coffee and evening beverages. The local hosts Andres, Kassandra and Anna live on property and are very helpful with anything you might need.
We enjoyed watching squirrel monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, iguanas, frogs, parrots all at the house and surrounding property.
We would return to Casa Tropical if traveling to this area of the world again without hesitation.

Picked Casa Tropical because of its size as there were 11 of us celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. From the time we got there until our last day, (12 days) altogether, we all knew we had found the ideal place to enjoy Costa Rica. Cassandra greeted us as we drove in, and explained every detail, from the 3rd level morning coffee area to the lowest level where the swimming pool was. She informed us of the recycling bins, air conditioning fans lights and bathrooms.
The swimming pool is located in such a way, that the sun is on it for most of the day, and the water temperature is constant about 30C.
The tropical flowers, plants and setting makes you feel you're in a jungle, yet you are only a few minutes from the main town of Quepos, and a few minutes from restaurants, beaches, grocery shopping and Manual Antonio National park.
Because of the way the homes are built, it was a little hard to find, but with good guidance from our contact Andres, we didn't waste precious time.
If I could give it more stars, I wouldn't hesitate and I know it's worth the trip back and it's a great place for large groups and big families.
As a Canadian and with the owner being Canadian, I would highly, highly recommend Casa Tropical to all Canadians to visit and enjoy the beauty and friendly country of Costa Rica.

Incredible house and location
This was an incredible house and very comfortable for 6 guys and easily could handle a bigger group. The host was always in communication and recommended a few great restaurants. The pool are was also beautiful and made for a great evening swim after a long day of fishing. Make sure you bring a camera and spend a few morning on the upper floor overlooking the surrounding jungle. Saw lots of birds and a few monkeys! I can’t wait to come back!

Costa Rican Paradise
True to its description this property was idle for our family. Being close to town it was still so away in the middle of lush tropical forest with good costa Rican wildlife samplers including monkeys, iguanas and birds of different variety. The views from the covered deck are awesome. Good place for morning coffee, yoga and birdwatching! Rooms were comfortable. Bathrooms had good running hot water. Middle Main level was the place for the family to hangout and get creative with cooking in the kitchen. Believe it or not my son baked a cake! All ingredients were there!. Wifi was very good. Andres was very prompt and exceedingly helpful and readily available . Steve, the host was very welcoming and personally called to see we were all doing well! Definately give the property, care takers and host a big thumbs up! One last but not the least the pool was beautifully placed and very clean and welcoming!
