Located in Seven Devils, this lovely cabin for $260 per night is a great option for your next break. Welcome to Grandfather Lookout! Nestled atop the beautiful Seven Devils Mountain, Grandfather Lookout is a luxury log cabin offering all you need for a perfect mountain getaway. This home has breathtaking views of the famous Grandfather Mountain, lots of windows, and comfortable deck space to enjoy the mountain setting. The interior features an open floor plan with hardwood floors, vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, and modern touches. The kitchen is updated with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, custom cabinetry, and a granite island. The dining table seats 8 and 2 more can sit at the nearby island. The upstairs loft has a game space with a pool table, shuffleboard table, and a card table. Downstairs has a media room with a large TV, a Blu-Ray player, comfortable seating, a dry bar, and a wine refrigerator. Grandfather Lookout is centrally located in the High Country with nearby access to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Valle Crucis. Nearby attractions include Hawksnest Zipline & Snow Tubing and Otter Falls. Just a bit further away is the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tweetsie Railroad, Linville Falls and Caverns, and much more. Winter Access: From late Fall to early Spring, 4WD and tire chains are required throughout Seven Devils. There is also a steep driveway up to the cabin. Must be at least 25 years of age to book.

The view from the living room glass doors is totally memorable. The cabin was very clean and management very responsive. The kitchen faucet needs attention immediately.

Overall, the property was clean and well kept. The driveway is pretty steep, it is fully paved and very manageable with good weather. We had a mid-sized SUV and it did not have any issues, there are 2 sharp turns on the driveway. The cabin was clean and well kept on the outside. The inside was mostly clean, upon arrival we found some dust bunnies in the corners, one of the blankets was left out and not folded, we found some dirt around the corner of the floors, and the bathroom shower tiles could have used a better cleaning on them. You could tell the cabin was cleaned by hitting the high points for a quick rental turn around. Other than that, everything else was in good order. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, and utensils, there was a small charcoal grill and a larger sized gas grill onsite. The refrigerator was clean, the dishwasher worked well, and the stove looked fairly new. The only complaint here was the oven door is tricky to operate until you get used to it. The door it is split into two sections where you can open a small door, or you can open the full door for oven use. Upstairs in the loft you found the pool table, the shuffleboard table, there was also a closet that had many different games and puzzles. We had great use of the pool table and games during our stay. The AC worked great in the cabin and the hot tub was very relaxing. The back deck has a great side view of Grandfather Mountain. I would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous house to spend a little vacation time in. Not sure how you get people to ever leave. Very lovely place and it was a great place to celebrate my son’s graduation from App State in nearby Boone.

The cabin is absolutely gorgeous and the views of grandfather mountain are unparalleled! Standing on the middle of the deck you have a full view of the side of grandfather’s face! The driveway is definitely steep but it is partially paved which helps! The beds need new mattresses for sure but they were fine for a couple nights. Cabin was very clean and well maintained. We will definitely stay again!

Great location and communication
We really enjoyed our stay at John’s cabin. It has a great setup with lots of space and an ideal location near Boone and Banner Elk.
I don’t think I’ve seen brighter stars looking up at the sky while soaking in the hot tub.
It’s a great cabin for sure and John was great to communicate with.
The only improvement I could recommend would be upgraded mattresses for a better nights sleep, but great cabin overall.

Awesome cabin, but steep drive way
We loved the cabin. The overlook was amazing. The only negative review I can give(which I don't think it is a negative, I just think you need to be prepared) is that the driveway is pretty steep. I do recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle to make it a little easier to get up the driveway. We had a great time!

Great place to stay
We had an excellent stay at this beautiful and cozy home. It was a wonderful place to stay once we were able to get up the driveway, which was a challenge. Definitely recommend using a 4 wheel drive vehicle (even in the summer months) otherwise you may not make it up the driveway!

This cabin is super close to Otter Falls and Hawksnest ziplining which everyone loved. The only issue was the hot tub which had a leak. We were told to fill it with the hose but that was not overly practical and took a while to heat with the cold water.

99.99% Best House We've Ever Stayed
Besides a few minor quirks about the house (one thermostat, broken sink & garbage disposal, dirty master shower) this house was perfect for what we needed to enjoy a short vacation in the high country.

Beautiful home
The home is beautiful and even more important it was clean. There are just 4 things I would suggest to earn 5 Stars;
1) it seemed there was only one unit in the house to control the temperature. When it was comfortable upstairs, it was too cold downstairs. If we put the heat up, it was too hot upstairs. Maybe put a space heater down stairs or fans in the room upstairs to help?
2) The upstairs bathroom faucet to turn on the tub needs to be fixed. If broke as soon as someone tried to turn it on.
3) The Master Bedroom shower water does not go down quickly enough when showering, so you are in a puddle of water by the time you are done showering.
4) A clear picture of the steep driveway should be included in the photos of the home. Only one of the cars we had were a 4x4 and could make it up the steep driveway-the rest of us had to walk up and down to our car each day. We didn't mind and enjoyed the exercise, but one of our guest is handicap and unable to but since we did have the one 4x4, she was able to go in that car.
All of these things are fixable, and you would only know if you stayed there. I am sharing to. Ring to your attention and I strongly hope you consider them because as I said the house is beautiful, the views are breathtaking. It is in a great location and my experience with renting wit Carolina Cabins was nothing but positive. The WIFI in the house worked well as our phones had no service. The kitchen was well stocked. The house is nicely spaced that no one felt crowded at any point. Again, most importantly, it was CLEAN!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!! We enjoyed it!! Happy New Year!!!

House was beautiful, turn out the hot tub had a leak and we couture it. That was a problem since we rented a house with one. A tech did come right away but said it had a leak, so we were unable to use it.. the location was great..
