Clean room. Great village canoe cruise.

Clean room. Clean bathroom. Nice garden. Comfortable for all 4 of us on 1 room. And an immersive nature village experience in the backwaters because of their unique custom village canor tour. We wanted to go for boathouse, but John Sir convinced us that the canoe tour was better nd he was so right.

Tolle Gastgeber in einem schönen Haus mit traumhaften Aufenthalt.

Der Aufenthalt war rundum wunderbar. Wir wollten kürzer bleiben, aber weil wir uns wie zu Hause fühlten, sind wir länger geblieben. Die Zimmer und das Bad waren groß in dem schönen Haus. Wir konnten in der Nacht ankommen. Das Einchecken war super unkompliziert, es wurde kein Druck gemacht. Wenn wir wollten, konnten wir uns Frühstück und/oder Abendessen bestellen, das Essen war sehr lecker. Johnson bietet außergewöhnliche Aktivitäten an. Man kann einen Ausflug zu einem Hausboot unternehmen, was wir für eine Nacht auch getan haben. Noch besser hat uns eine Kanutour in den Backwaters gefallen, die zeitlich flexibel gestartet werden kann. Vor Sonnenaufgang erlebt man Natur pur. Man muss selber nichts dafür tun, man wird zu Mr. Valentine per E-Auto gefahren und von ihm verpflegt, man muss nur etwas Hitze aushalten können, was aber mit bereitgestellten Schirmen und Wasserflaschen gut möglich ist. Der Kanufahrer macht hin und wieder Halt an interessanten Orten. Wenn man möchte, kann man auch eine Stunde Yoga am Tag machen. Es gibt Wasser aus einem Kanister, sodass wir sicher trinken konnten und somit viel Plastik gespart wurde, da wir uns sonst immer mit Plastikflaschen versorgten. Wir empfehlen die Unterkunft aus tiefstem Herzen.

Aceptable para una noche

El dueño es una persona muy amable. Nos dejó entrar un poco antes, nos ofreció actividades para hacer en Alepey. El espacio es amplio, tiene ventilador, el baño con agua caliente. La habitación y el baño donde nos hospedamos estaba limpio.

La casa tiene aspecto de sucia, la limpieza es superficial. Cuando estuvimos (supongo que sería algo temporal) tenían puesto un plástico sucio y feo en la escalera por donde entras a las habitaciones.

Perfect place to explore Alleppey

Fantastic property for exploring Alleppey Close to beach and some good restaurants Mr Johnson was very helpful and knowledgeable he helped us to hire a motor scooter and booked us on his trip to the backwaters, which was amaze and well worth the money. The room we had was very comfortable with large beds and good shower There is a place to sit out at night and chill The breakfast was good and plentiful Highly recommended

Definitely recommend Johnson's and the canoe backwater trip

Mr Johnson was a great host, he organised the canoe trip on the backwaters with Mr Valentine. He drove us there and dealt with the admin, he was very helpful any time we had questions and organised our ongoing travel, and made us breakfast. We would really recommend doing the canoe trip with Mr Valentine. We started early to catch the sunrise and the trip is very peaceful outside of the main tourist area. Mr Valentine is also a great a host and cooked great food. Overall if you are coming to Allepey we would recommend a stay at Johnson's Homestay. The facilities were reflective of the price but had everything we needed. Thank you!

Johnson is a friendly, helpful host with an eclectic homestay.

We had omelettes, toast and coffee both mornings. Johnson delivered them to our balcony. It was a lovely relaxed breakfast. We went on the backwater canoe exploration that he recommended which was fantastic. Cherry had an ayurvedic massage Johnson recommended and he kept my beer cold in the kitchen fridge.

We stayed in Johnston's cheapest room and it met our expectations. The beds were a little hard but that's India. En-suite toilet and shower were clean and roomy.

Led astray by misleading booking.com rating, absolutely not worth the money

AC was strong, breakfast and lunch were home cooked by a very nice woman.

Room was up a rickety flight of stairs that felt like a construction zone, bathroom was partially exposed with no shower barrier so showering required flooding the floor (obviously no body wash provided) and and acoustics allowed you to directly hear everything in other bathrooms nearby. Floor was peeling, comforters were scratchy wool, door didn’t properly close so you either had to leave it ajar and risk bugs or lock friends inside if they were still in there. Our room was not ready at check in, host forgot he had organized a canoe tour for us so that started late, squeezed us into his car to get there (while actively asking us about the Israel - Hamas war when he clearly disagreed with our opinions) then only 2/4 guests could sit comfortably in the canoe, run by his chef friend instead of a proper tourism company. Natural beauty was nice but the tour was the opposite of premium and certainly not worth the nearly $50 usd charged for the simple meal, snacks, and basic rowboat. The host also claimed he didn’t have a credit card reader and we had to pay for both the tour and accommodation in cash (which he told us while standing shirtless in his boxers) contrary to the booking.com listing. I have never felt so misled in my life by a booking.com rating/ listing, and would not recommend this unless you are a 19 year old looking for hostel-type experience on a budget. I didn’t check google reviews before checking in but this host has a history of berating and gaslighting guests. We were on edge during our stay and I have no doubt he’ll have some choice words for us as well so booking.com, please take note.

A great base for the backwaters

Friendly and relaxed homestay in a convenient location between the beach and the town. Johnson, the owner, is very helpful with suggestions about things to do and encourages guests to join together on trips, which helps to save money and is also a nice way to get to know new people! I really enjoyed the shikara ride and canoe village tour organised by the homestay. I opted for the sunrise village tour and saw huge flocks of cormorants as well as eagles, kingfishers, and lots of interesting village life. The breakfast and lunch prepared by Minnie were amazing. I was in the pink room which was very comfortable and spacious. Stayed an extra night!

Danke Johnsonn und Team!

Johnson und sein Team sind echte Schätze. Man fühlt sich von Anfang an willkommen. Fantastisches Frühstück, keralitische Küche und man erfährt viel über Kerala und das Leben ind Indien. PlUS: ich hatte einen medizinischen Notfall und es wurde sich sehr viel Zeit genommen mich zu unterstützen ind zu übersetzen.

IN ALAPUSHA, JOHNSON'S HOMESTAY IS THE PLACE TO BE

Get to Appelly, Get to Johnson's homestay- only 5 minutes by auto from railway station, Leave the rest to Johnson, He took care of everything we needed, from advice on beaches, temples, and the excellent ayurvedic spa near to his home to an overnight houseboat cruise on the backwaters.

Good but not great

We are most concerned about cleanliness, so as soon as we entered, we checked the room, bed, mattress, and pillows and found everything clean and fresh. There was a little cleaning to be done in the bathroom. We told Johnson and he immediately asked his staff and they completed the work. Johnson also arranged a very nice backwater tour for us and advised us what all to do in Alleppey. He is very knowledgeable. The grounds need a little more gardening but overall we will give this hotel full score, mainly because of Johnson who is a gentleman.

There is scope for small improvements in many areas. They take a lot of time to prepare food. This is not acceptable.

Safe place for families

I selected this property because of previous reviews. Glad to comment that I was not disappointed. I came with my daughter and it was a safe hotel, which was most important. Lots of other guests also. Yhry have a cute son, Aaryan.

No board in front and as soon as I made booking, they called and asked for advance.

We stayed there just for a night. The closeness of this facility to the beach and the alleppey mai. Town was a huge plus. The breakfast was filling. Will return for a longer stay.

Safe quiet area and helpful hosts. We booked non ac room for 2 people. We are actualy 4, but the staff called owner who adjusted room to ac because it was very hot in allepy and comfortable for 4 people. We took their lovelu houseboat and it was a beautifil cruise. Too much food, and just like at the hotel, nice staff. We came because of good reviews for this property and it was right decision. Aldo, i like way they reply yo reviews :)
