Very nice hotel perfect for a piece & Quiet break

Swimming pool only opens at 11am hotel director should consider opening it at 7am or 8am for a nice swim before breakfast . But we still loved the hotel it’s a perfect place to stay with excellent staff we will definitely be back

Great dinner in the ‘cafeteria’ actually a nice restaurant with proper linen table cloths. Excellent recommendations from the somellier/waiter. The views are stunning and a drink outside around sunset with views over the river and sea were beautiful.

Nothing. We would be very happy to go there again (and will do). A much more special experience than a chain hotel. Husband disliked the very long and rounded pillows. A smaller shorter rectangular/square pillow option would be nice.

Built on the site of the old castle the location overlooking the river and bridge that mark the boundary between Spain and Portugal is hard to beat. At sunset it is unsurpassable. The restaurant was very pleasant and the food good, with knowledgeable staff when it came to discussing the local wines. The large communal area of sofas is very attractive and inviting as is the area on the terrace for snacks, drinks, etc. We didn’t access the pool area so cannot comment. Free easy parking a bonus. A 25 minute walk through the old narrow back streets, passing some very interesting historical landmarks/houses/buildings to the very pretty town of Ayamonte is well worth it; get a taxi back for 7euros.

Upon arrival the reception staff were pretty grumpy-a welcoming smile would not go amiss. Though large enough the bedrooms/bathrooms are very dated and tired-they require complete rejuvenation. Therefore we feel that the hotel is overpriced.
