Dishonest
Dishonest staff who did not deliver what they promised. We booked 5 rooms but unfortunately had to cancel the family room due to illness. We were assured they would not charge us for it and as soon as booking.com contacted them, they would waiver the fee.We were so grateful for their understanding and were given tiny back rooms which we accepted as 3 staff members told us separately that they wouldn't charge for the family room. I have tried to contact staff multiple times since our stay with no response Had we known they were not going to stick to their word, we would have used the family room that we still had to pay for. I would have more respect for them if they had said no from the beginning instead of stringing us along.

The man on reception was very helpful when he said he was ok with us checking in late at 10.15pm as were still on the road. He said it was ok, he would wait for us. The hotel is no frills and classed as 2 star and is reasonably cheap compared to other hotels in the town. The location of the hotel is its best attribute. Its central location in the town. You have Sainsburys supermarket and petrol pump to the side of the hotel. Plenty of takeaways on Doncaster Road and also at least two good Indian restaurants. You also have convenience stores and eating places on Oswald Road, Frodingham Road. The town centre high Street is also within walking distance. There is on site parking even if it can be a bit tight sometimes.
Customer service was a problem. The gentleman on reception seemed uninterested and almost bored when checking us in, although efficient. When I'd phoned the day before, the lady on duty said there was no breakfast available over the Bank Holiday and that she saw no mention of breakfast on my booking. I'm pretty sure I'd booked breakfast for two adults and two children on Booking.com and paid for this. She then explained that she couldn't keep the chef over the Easter Weekend if nobody booked breakfast it would be a wasted expense. The bar man seemed a bit annoyed and irritable when I asked him if food was being served that evening. He said that I'd have to make sure I ordered before 8pm as the chef would be leaving early as the place would be dead after the football match being shown was over. I soon realised that it was a bad idea on my part as the bar was very busy and quite noisy and raucous, not a good place to have a family meal. My fault. When going out and coming back now and again to the hotel that night there would be groups of people drinking or smoking outside. The area could seem a bit rough sometimes. I'd phoned reception a number of times and 90 percent of the time got no answer. Over the Easter Bank Holiday there didn't seem to be any housekeeping. There was never anyone available at reception and no one seemed contactable. Although the Queen sized bed my wife and I were in was very comfortable, the sofa bed for the kids was uncomfortable and too warm. Getting WiFi set up was a pain as you had to create an account and fill in details. I had to ask one of the main staff for help on this. He did help although he seemed uninterested. It's a pity, I have given very good reviews in the past. This time however things weren't so great. I don't think the hotel will be too bothered about this review, but here goes anyway.

Hard work in special place
Clean, comfortable , fit for purpose.
Parking is small , try to grant night access to the supermarket parking. The Breakfast timing and rules, pricing, shoud be more clear.
