The location is great with stunning views of Viana do Castelo. The hotel itself is a beautiful building. The restaurant area is very nice. There are big windows with lovely views. The breakfast was great, there were lots of nice options, there were always fresh and delicious fruits.
All staff members we had contact with were friendly, welcome and efficient and sometimes would go out of their way to help us out, giving information about transport and places of interest in the area. We stayed for five nights and lhad lovely chats with some of the restaurant staff: Paula, José, Francisco, Gabriel, Arsenio. Beatriz at reception was very helpful and welcoming too. We did appreciate their dedication and cheefulness.
The only thing I would suggest is that they consider having one 'special ourse every day. If a guest stays for longer than three nights, having always the same menu to choose from is not so good. Going down to Viana do Castelo to eat some different would require driving because of the hotel location. So, you would feel stuck! Despite that, my husband and I really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful historical hotel in an amazing location. Every corner hides another interesting spot. Terrace with a view on a whole city, where you can comfortably seat with a drink from a bar. Definitely recommend taking a room with a view and enjoying the sunset. The best part is the breakfast! Great variety, gluten-free options and all of it in the magnificent room with a view again.
Coffee at the breakfast.

The location, view, and atmosphere were amazing.
We had a drink at the bar and had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, and it was amazing. The staff was warm and friendly, and we would recommend it to everyone. We will be back.
The only small area for improvement was the shower. It was over a small bath, which we found slippery.

Location is stunning
The hotel has to be renewed, it cannot be rated as a 5 stars hotel, bar and restaurant could be enhanced, terrace could be more comfortable, bathroom and room have to be renovated, breakfast is not as wonderful as the other pestana hotels
