Fabulously comfortable..

Fantastic accommodation with very friendly staff. lovely atmosphere and very impressed with the collection of ‘coos’. Pat is a great cook, providing a lovely breakfast. Will certainly stay again and highly recommend to others.

This b&b prepared me for an excellent cycling tour in Connamara.

Breakfast was great. I got everything I asked for. The porridge was great, as was my Irish breakfast. The owners are very helpful with everything and are very down to earth people. I was given an overview of places to eat which was very helpful.

This was my first visit to Clifden and I liked everything and was lucky with the weather.

Buttermilk Lodge is a great place to stay.

Buttermilk Lodge is very convenient to Clifden, albeit up a hill, Cathriona was extremely helpful - it was snowing when we were there and an electricity transformer went down, Cathriona was in with torches before we realised the lights weren't working! The apartment was stocked with tea/coffee, milk & juice, cereals and gorgeous home made bread. The shower is fantastic! There is private parking on site and the wi-fi connection was strong. We would definitely recommend and would stay again.

nice place overall. I would recommend it.

Nice and clean self catering apartment. Bedrooms were bright and spacious with comfortable beds. Nice and quiet place.has a private car parking and is walking distance from the town centre.

Apartment had an en-suite and a bathroom.When shower was used in on bathroom there was no hot water in the other.

Wonderful stay in this cosy house, I really felt at home.

The owners where very kind, I felt home, and they gave me nice walking ideas for the region. The cosy lounge with a nice turf fire was so delightful after a long walk The breakfasts were huge and so good to regain strength for the next days. Everything was perfect.

it was clean and organized. the host was welcoming and helpful. breakfast was very nice. very thoughtful on layout and amenities.

nothing really. we arrived after dark and left right after breakfast. so we didn’t spend much time there

This is exactly what a b&b should be. Attention to detail makes a huge difference. eg usb charging with power board next to the bed. Extremely comfortable beds. And a wonderful breakfast. including locally sourced smoked salmon. Highly recommended.

We were lodged in one of the apartments for 3 nights. Apartment had all you may need for a stay: it is really well placed in Clifden (in less than 5 min walking you are in the center, with the advantage that you don't need to look for parking as apartment has parking places too) and has all commodities (washing/drying machine; kitchen with everything you may need -frigo maybe is a bit small but enough for 3 nights-; big bedroom, etc.). Moreover, at your arrival, you find two cakes baked by the owner as well as milk, sugar, coffee, muesli so that you may have breakfast on the next morning if you're arriving late. They also offer the possibility to have breakfast in the Bed&Breakfast for an additional charge.

Very cosy stay.

Very kind and welcoming hosts. Great food for breakfast!!! Food was tasty and they had a lot of options. Probably the best b&b I have stayed in. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Within walking distance of the center of clifden by path. They also provide a lot of information about the local area.

Loved our first sight of the premises and garden, the smell of the roses. Excellent location. Just a five minute walk from town centre. Airy and comfy room. Excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfast. Very good menu.

A hidden gem guesthouse 5 minutes walk from Clifden center. Perfect base for visiting Connemara !

Patrick and Cathriona are the perfect example of real assets amongst the famous Irish hospitality. I just can’t recommend their house highly enough to discerning people. If Connemara has a lot to offer on its own, it also certainly has Patrick and Cathriona guesthouse, their hospitality, benvolence and kindness and it would be a real shame to miss out and not stopping at their place. Simple as that. The accodomation situation, facilities, room comfort and equipments, breakfast, cleanliness, quietness and organisaton are perfect and spot-on. For every euro spent, I easily received 10. In a nutshell : stopping by at their house for few nights or making it a base in Clifden while visiting parts of Connemara areas is a no-brainer. Thank you very much .
