Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier

Breakfast was very good, and the location was nice. The bathroom was spacious with good facilities. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very nice. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.

The room was quite small for a couple and overly warm at night. The bed was okay but would have been more suited for one person rather than two. Quite expensive for the room and bed size.

Location & facilities were very good & nice size room, the restaurant staff were wonderful & very helpful & friendly. Wonderful food both dinner & breakfast, highly recommend the restaurant. Loved the character of the old hotel.

Check in was a little tricky with having upgrading our room before we got there & they did not get notification of the upgrade & front desk receptionist could have been a bit friendlier.

Great location only 5km from lake and rooms were very comfortable. Great staff and breakfast was very nice.

The oldest hotel in Fox Glazier as been completely renovated, so it has the charm and ornaments of the old hotel yet the rooms are modern. I guess you pay a premium for both the glazier area as the centrally located hotel (with pub/restaurant indoors, other restaurants, convenience shop and petrol station around the corner), some walking options walkable, hiking options very nearby. If only part of the spacious bathroom could have been part of the rather small room, and mind you that the very friendly and service oriented manager allowed us to change the even smaller room we were offered at first. For a 194cm tall person the bed is so short the feet stick out. The friendly staff in the hotel and breakfast makes up for a lot (friendliest we met in the whole of NZ so far) and the overall experience for the highest price we pay compacted to any other hotel, motel or apartment does not.

Accommodation isn’t worth the price, the bed is too short (and it’s a queen size bed) for over 190cm folks and the rooms are too small.
