Uma experiência relaxante e acolhedora

Ficar na herdade da matinha é uma experiência super relaxante. Sentimo-nos em casa. Desde a decoração dos diferentes espaços comuns até aos espaços exteriores verdejantes e com aromas deliciosos, e amabilidade do staff.. gostamos muito!

As zonas de piscina têm pouca sombra. Acabamos por não conseguir permanecer muito tempo la.. optamos por jantar na quinta e achamos que para a oferta, o preço está bastante desajustado.

The Perfect Retreat that Mixed Home and Luxury all in One!

Herdade da Matinha is a place that leaves you speechless - it was an absolutely amazing stay that we didn't want to leave. It provided all of the things and essence that we were wanting: slow, calm pace of living, wonderful staff that felt like family, amazing gastronomy, beautifully scenic, rugged artsy chic. Relaxing and peaceful

Peaceful setting, rustic amd authentic. Really appreciated the creation of such a wondefrul place.

We found the room for a family of 3 was a bit small for a 4 night stay. The evening compulsory 4 course dinner was not what we wanted, we would have prefered to order a lighter tapas style meal for the evenings...this forced us to go out in the evenings and we would have prefered to stay at the venue.

Relaxing place with very friendly staff to disconnect.

The remoteness, being surrounded by nature. There are 3 pools which made it pleasant for the amount of people staying there. And the dogs were a delight, especially Gina who even swims with you.

There is quite a lot of dog poo in the immediate surroundings near the walkways and where you eat. I appreciate there a three dogs but more attention needs to be paid to this. No one wants to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner smelling , seeing or stepping in poop!! The food was good but not amazing as others have said and the buffet dinners are overpriced in my opinion for what you get. Which brings me to the yoga class, was disappointed as very expensive for a last minute stand in teacher and other people doing their own routines at the same time.

Perfection!

We absolutely loved everything about this place. We had only booked one night and it was just a tease. We will definately return. The staff, the location, the grounds, the common spaces, the roses, the dogs and the most exceptional food!!!! Best we have had in Portugal after having travelled for over 3 weeks. This is a place to find your inner peace. We are already planing our return!

Very helpful staff and relaxed atmosphere

The staff were amazing and always ready to help - when we checked in they couldn't do enough to ensure we were happy with our accommodation and knew where everything was. We were given a full tour of the facilities. We booked dinner with them last minute for 5 people and the chef came to chat with us about what he was able to do for us on short notice and the food was fabulous. All in all a great stay which we really enjoyed. Breakfast eggs were cooked to order with good quality coffee - next time we need to visit it when it is warmer so we can enjoy the pool.

some additional breakfast options would be good - mostly continental options which you don't always want. Would also be good to have A'la Carte evening menu as was only set menu available so if you don't like the menu you have to go out. The dirt road could do with with tarmac.

Definitely recommend for families with toodlers.

The food was delicious, local and house-made. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection of food and possible to request eggs, pancakes, etc... Dinner was amazing! The location is very relaxing, remote and you feel in the country side. A lot of places to hang out and explore.

Beautiful place to find yourself

Nice staff. Beautiful surroundings. An oasis in a country setting. We stayed 2 extra days because we liked it so much.

Perhaps not the cheapest place to stay. Please follow the instructions for programming your car navigation or you emd up driving a 4x4 road with a normal car as i did :-(

Unique stay, I wish I had more than 2 nights!

Great breakfast buffet, quiet and rustic feel. Staff were very helpful with organising trips.

Honestly attention to details could have been a little better. Nothing to complain about at all but in comparison to other places I stayed at that price, it didnt feel quite as luxe, but still lovely! Maybe I was a little spoilt at other places!

Exceptional

Super friendly staff who gave us a very warm welcome. They accommodate you with every need and it feels like one big family. The rooms were great, very peaceful, cosy and comfortable surroundings and we had the pool (one of three!) almost to ourselves. The breakfast and dinner is very good (also for vegetarians) and they offer nice activities. We did some yoga/stretching in the mornings which gave us a great start of the day. Special shout out to Florian!

fantastic location, wonderful staff and great sophisticated service. energising interiors, soulful.

we don’t sleep with air con so a window in the room would have been ideal, there was a door which we left open, for air and wildlife!. this is an easy fix. room 11. dinners were authentic(😕)new chef was on site and is going to be exciting!!!.

Ok but it needs a tune up on all sides

Great location. The staff where very helpful and friendly

The service was painfully slow. The wine was expensive for Portuguese wine and not so special the Gin and tonic as €15.00 which is pretty steep. The massage was ineffectual and not worth the €80. Dinner is a set menu which is limiting but also interesting if you like a wide range of meat and fish. They need to sweep the dead flies off the window sill in the dining room it looked a bit grim.

Wonderful

We were in the adults only section with it's own Pool, wonderfull. All people working there are absolutely the best! Beautiful walking area, good food and wine and close to vila nova. Hope to be back one day

a very sad experience

What was advertised was not accurate. From animals to food this was an exprerience below par for the price. Breakfast had ham and cheese with no variety to choose from. Dinner for 38 euros had curry with a tiny bowl of rice and chicken pie with feathers and bones. On the second night late in the evening we found that the room was full of massive spiders and behind the bed a nest of spiders. We went to the receptionist to ask for a new room as it was not safe, the owner of the property came drunk and become aggresive in front of our toddler saying this is not a family resort and a few spiders are ok for a toddler in a very sarcastic tone as this is a country hotel. We fear for our safety and we called the police. In front of the police the owner said that we are not welcome in his house and we need to leave, agreeing to full refund our staying, surprised he fully charged the room. We had to drive at midnight for two hours in the middle of the country side as there were no local accommodations available. He has also refused to speak in English to my partner as “he is in Portugal and the tourist should know Portuguese”. I never felt so embarrassed and harassed in my life.

Relaxing home away from home- highly recommend

Absolutely loved our stay! Felt like we were home, full of lovely people and dogs. Very relaxing, surrounded by nature and great vibes. Amazing breakfast (included), lunch and dinner menus were exquisite!
