Lovely spot good staff generally

TV didn’t work , one window didn’t open, two of the spa beds weren’t working - a bit too overpriced for the experience and not as good as some others in the location

We have been a few times to Chewton Glen. The hotel is very comfortable in a lovely setting. Our room was an excellent size and very clean. The staff were clearly well trained, very personable and professional. The pool and spa area are also great.

Not so keen on the new trelliswork in the dining room. Makes it feel a bit like a garden centre rather than a high class restaurant. Having said that, the food and service were really very, very good. I think the 5% accommodation service charge should be included in the prices quoted by Booking.com.

Breakfast was excellent. Facilities excellent.

We were charged a service charge for our room which was unexpected and never explained to us (£154.63) in total for four nights. It was in addition to what we were quoted as the room rate by Bookings. The room servicing was late on two of the days so we had an unmade room for much of the day At the price we paid for our suite we expect servicing to be timely and included in that cost. We perhaps should have picked this up at check-out but as we checked out another guest seemed to have captured the attention of the reception staff with a robust complaint about his bill, so our attention was somewhat diverted. Also we asked for a receipt but were not given one (so we expected it to be an e-receipt, but none has materialised). For this quality of Hotel, we don't expect hidden charges like this. Our suite was on the second floor. We expected there to be a lift but there isn't one.
