This hotel has everything you need for a hiking holiday and nothing you don't. It is clean, comfortable, quiet and good value. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet was an excellent way to start every day of a hiking holiday. All the staff were good to deal with. Patrizia, in particular, always had a smile. The hotel is well placed for accessing the lifts to give you a head start on every mountain you climb and it is only a short walk to the train station.

I would have given this hotel a 10 because the lady who checked me in was very polite, the location is good, and the balcony had a beautiful view of the Grindelwald glacier.
However, during breakfast on Sunday, a gentleman practically gave me a lecture after I asked for a third coffee. I don’t usually drink an excessive amount of coffee — and even if I did, I don’t see why that should be a problem for a hotel guest. The first café latte was almost entirely milk, so I ordered a black coffee to mix with it. As I was tired and needed some extra energy, I later asked for another one.
Unfortunately, the gentleman was quite rude about it and made me feel uncomfortable as a guest. I want to make it clear that all the other staff members I interacted with were polite and helpful. It was only this gentleman’s attitude that negatively affected my experience.

Eiger view was great.
Room was not so clean. Hairs in bath. And bath needed a scrub. Carpet had extensive stains on it. Bed sheets seemed ok. Breakfast was limited compared to other hotels in area. It was quite a walk from station. That’s for us to check but added on 15 mins to everything.
