The setting alone justifies the trip. Bamboo structures along the Ayung River in Mambal, open to the air, with the sound of water underneath everything. It’s quiet in a way that Ubud proper no longer is.
The healing work is what sets it apart. The Balinese healers here aren’t spa therapists with a script — the sessions are rooted in an actual tradition, and it’s treated with the seriousness it deserves. The water blessing at the start of my stay set the tone for the whole week.
The plant-based kitchen deserves its own paragraph. I went in skeptical and left converted. Sakti Dining Room turns raw and living food into something you’d order by choice, not by dietary obligation.
What I appreciated most was the staff. Arista in particular went well beyond what I’d expect in coordinating my programme and accommodating changes to my plans without any friction. That kind of flexibility, handled graciously, is rarer than it should be.
If you’re looking for a beach club with a spa attached, look elsewhere. If you want something that actually resets you, this is it.
