the view was spectacular, bed comfortable.

the room needs some updating, bathroom also needs some attention, there wasn't a heater, the tv cables were broken. the whole complex needs some maintenance. It has the makings of a huge tourist attraction with the scenery and natural surroundings. Some attention to details. The Restaurant and bar needs an overhaul of the menu. When you have great food it attracts people. It should be humming with tourists.

Most of the motel is too rundown to be used. Lakefront rooms have great view but bathrooms unclean

The location, directly across the lake is spectacular.

We travelled with three teenage kids and a couple. We had two rooms. The grownups room had a stunning aspect just across from the lake but the bathroom was filthy. The relatively new shower had mold and soap scum and there was built up grime in the corners of the room. The kids had a triple room right up the back of the complex. Clearly these rooms are set to be demolished or something. They stunk of mustiness and were accessed down a filthy outdoor corridor that was covered in detritus from the garden. We asked for a new room but we’re advised that the other triple room smelled worse! A walk around the once beautiful grounds and you can see the owners must be planning something else for the property. The gardens are unkept and there is no effort to protect their reputation. We would have been fine with it if we had been warned and the room was appropriately priced for what it was. We met others there who had booked because the motel offered bbq facilities (this is still on booking.com). There are no bbqs. The owners need to be honest about what they are providing and learn how to clean bathrooms. Staff were nice however, the pup food was fine and as I said the view is amazing. Thanks.

It is good for one night or two night stay . Not more than this .

check in went well . Location is good . beach view is good . connected room is good

The towel for bath is very small . Seems to be given for small people like chanese . Cutlery are very limited . Matress comfort was not great . After 5 PM , no one at reception where as it is mentioned as 24 x 7 service . Shower curtain is too bad . No mechanical ventilation for shower and toilet .

Unfortunately we couldn't get alternative accommodation at short notice so had to stay there

The only good thing about the place wad the view of the lake on the other side of the road.

For the high rate we were charged the room was very small and dark. The bathroom was disgusting with very badly stained bath, mould on the bath surround and the shower curtain was crumpled and mouldy. After complaining we were given a slightly bigger but not much cleaner unit. Along the front of the unit outside was littered with dozens of cigarette buttons, can tabs and other rubbish and dirt and obviously had not been swept for many months. The exterior of the entire motor inn was in a poor condition with rotting fascia boards and needing a paint. The car park also was in a poor state of repair with large areas of seal lifted creating many large potholes and management obviously don't know the meaning of maintenance. Also the photos shown online are a very false representation of what you get. I also note the advertised photo of the exterior has been taken at night, I wonder why.

Great location but disappointing motel.

Great location with views across the lake.

Rooms small and in need of modernisation. Bar and restaurant were not open. Expensive for the standard of accommodation provided.

Good location but very much overpriced motel.

The view from the room was great. The reception staff was very nice and had us checked in early as our room was ready.

Very much overpriced, and very run down facilities. The room floor was peeled off and was covered by tapes. There were spiderwebs everywhere in the room, and needs better cleaning. Overall great staff and location but the building is very run down and needs better cleaning. With this quality of facility the stay is only worth 150NZD/night.

The room, tired required maintenance. There was an earwig in the bed. The bed spread was stained as was the curtains. The matress was tired and saved, could feel the springs. In general the complex was not inviting

Gross, dirty and way overpriced.

The view was the only thing

Checked the room out which we paid $206 a night for. Absolutely disgusting. Smelt terrible, bed was obviously super old as was the rest of the room. Had to open everything up to try and get the smell out. Asked to see an upgraded room for $299.00 and was no better. Rubbish bins overflowing, office area was a mess, rubber gloves and dish rags on the ground. Absolute rip off for what was charged. Sign advertises meals and a bar which was not open and hadn’t been for quite some time by the looks. Plastic ashtrays screwed to the wall outside each room full of old cigarette butts. Complete rip off and would not recommend it to anyone. The place is disgusting. On a better note, the grounds were reasonable and the view of the lake and mountains are beautiful. Such a shame this place has been run into the ground. Could not get accommodation anywhere else so had to suffer the night. Never again! Not a good look for Manapouri.

I have stayed there before and this time the restaurant was closed and it was not as nice as before, I understand the problems in the hospitality business and it is the same in this country, having said that, the location is great and accommodation was adequate, I would stay again.

Great location with lake views. Recognise the price was reasonable, it's just a shame that staff didn't seem to be trying that hard.

The room was quite dusty and there was a pile of leaves in the doorway. Bathroom was clean though. Had to go back to reception to ask for wifi password as it wasn't supplied. Facilities info in room said incorrectly that there was a children's play area. Communal kitchen was tiny and half the elements on the stove weren't working unfortunately.

Hotel was old and needed a lot of maintenance inside and out. Our room was dusty around the skirtings, had peeling paint on the inside window sills, broken window latches and was generally dirty and smelt dusty. The Queen bed was soft and saggy and uncomfortable for two to sleep in. The gardens were all overgrown.

Comfortable, warm and clean

The room had everything we needed but was small and the bathroom was adequate but small. Staff were very helpful. Location was great as was very close to where we needed to be and we did have a view of the Lake,

For the price we paid compared to others the room wasn't up to expectations.
