I loved our high up, quiet, so very tranquil room. I loved the grounds and the location, I set off and had a lovely walk up the hill and around the University of Bath in the afternoon. The staff were friendly, I like the spare and clan and functional showers.
The stairs up to room one were crazy but I took it as a vote of confidence from the staff that they placed as there ;)

The building is beautiful it has amazing views over Bath.
There is a very long hilly walk up from the train station to get to this location. It would have been nice to know that there is a Bus that can drop you at the front door.

It’s really close to the city centre.
You didn’t have access to the balcony.
The smell in the room was heavy.

Staff were welcoming and no-fuss. The common space was open 24/7 for drinks, lunch, or dinner, plus a bar serving beer round the clock. The room was spacious for six, and the English breakfast was tasty and good value, with kids only £1 extra.
We visited in summer during a hot spell and couldn't open the windows (blocked by some device), and the fan provided was low quality, with no up-down setting so it only blew vertically. It's a youth hostel, so no real complaints there, but the bunk beds, mattresses, and pillows were below par. I can sleep anywhere so it was fine for me, though it might not suit everyone's back.
