Barceló Mussanah Resort, Sultanate of Oman

Nice property and excellent amenities to spend family time

Room cleanness

Calm and clean

No body lotion in bathroom

The room is basic but you have everything you need. On the positive side we had a beautiful view. The Ac was working fine. The bed was comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was good. My 8 year old daughter loves the water slides here and that's the main reason we go to this hotel regularly. The breakfast is fine and we lucked out with the dinner during our stay as it was an Asian night.

Nothing! Everything was great!

The location is excellent, particularly the private beach, which remains one of the resort's biggest attractions. The dinner was decent, and breakfast was good. Having stayed at this property three times previously, I also have fond memories of our earlier visits when it operated under IHG as Millennium Resort. Those positive memories and the beautiful location were the main reasons I still rated the overall experience 5/10.

Unfortunately, this visit was a major disappointment. The children's water slide park was open only from 4 PM to 8 PM and remained closed throughout the morning, which was inconvenient for families with children. The initially allocated room on the third floor had a strong mouldy smell, forcing us to request a room change. Although the replacement room on the fourth floor was better, the corridors were visibly wet, with peeling paint in several places, indicating poor maintenance. Room service was particularly disappointing. Four 330 ml water bottles were requested, but only three were provided. We also had to pay OMR 1 for four drinking glasses, despite there being none in the room initially. Requests to replace bathroom towels were ignored, even after multiple reminders. When we requested four water bottles the following day, we were told that only two additional bottles could be provided. Such basic hospitality services should not be an issue, especially when travelling with children. Furthermore, the only shaded swimming pool for adults was visibly dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned. The three cocktails we ordered from the pool bar were also very disappointing in taste. Overall, the maintenance standards, housekeeping, pool cleanliness and room service have noticeably deteriorated.
