We really enjoyed our one-night stay at Dungbeetle River Lodge. We received a lovely welcome drink when we arrived and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony taking in the peaceful views over the river, a perfect way to unwind after travelling. The room was lovely and we really loved the heated blanket and thinking about getting one for home!!
The lodge was also incredibly helpful in arranging our Alexandria Dune Field boat tour and two-hour sandboarding experience for us, which made organising the activities so easy. The following morning, we were even able to borrow fishing equipment from the hotel and enjoy some fishing from the property. Breakfast was included and was a lovely addition to our stay it was beautifully presented and tasted delicious with homemade bread and kudu sausages. Friendly hospitality, beautiful surroundings and a great base for exploring the area. Thank you so much to the hosts and staff for making our stay lovely.

1/ helpful and friendly host
2/ excellent river view (we stay in river lodge)
3/ excellent home made bread in beautiful view outdoor table at restaurant
4/ within 10 mins drive to Addo elephant park
1/ cigarette butt in outdoor astray + used coffee mug in room from previous guest not cleaned (but they apologised for that immediately)
2/ our room in first floor so carry all suitcases up not by ourselves not easy (but understand good view must paid the price)
3/ only one restaurant nearby and the menu is not our choice.

The location is great if you are visiting Addo National Park, it's very close to the South Gate. We appreciated the terrace with the river view where we had nice breakfast every day.
The location is good for Addo, but not for other things - not much in the area, there are 2 restaurants but they are not good. We had issuse with hot water and we didn't appreciate that there is no stuff in the afternoon in the lodge, as we had to wait till the morning to report this and in the end it was 24h for us with cold water. The lodge is a bit old and you can feel it, it could use a big refresh, because it has potential with river view.
