Absolutely lovely staff, very friendly on arrival, room clean and comfortable excellent size, fantastic water pressure, location was perfect for me as I go to BFT gym and was able to walk there in three minutes as it's on the same block - and was travelling to Claudelands by car which was about 5 mins at the most. Facilities were good, the freezer freezes although not very big and no ice cube tray, the fridge was a good size, good kitchen equipment, comfortable bed, enough blankets and pillows and a good sized rubbish bin. All things that matter when you're staying a few days and like to self-cater.
I really like having the commercial sized toilet rolls as they do - never need to feel anxiety about running out :) small detail but makes a difference!
No bedside lamps, real downside if you like to read in bed to get to sleep (fortunately I travel with one as this happens a surprising amount of the time), and the lighting that was in the rooms was a horrible cold fluorescent tone which is unpleasant and makes it feels like a bit of a bunker even during the day particularly with the cool grey walls. Shifting to warm tone bulbs would make a huge difference to how the place feels, including adding warm toned bedside lamps to allow reading in bed. Given I had to close the blinds for privacy being on the ground floor this mattered a lot even in the late afternoon. It's very hard to wind down and get good sleep with blue toned lights so this matters more than you'd think.
Also no extractor fan! I have to have lamb at present due to some health issues and it's very fatty so makes a fair bit of smoke. Had to have windows all open to prevent it from leaving a nasty odour for the next guests, hopefully that worked!
Sustainability wise, towels were replaced every day even when I hung mine up and there was no 'no service required' sign so there's no option to save water which is a shame.
I will still stay every time I come to Hamilton as the location, amenity, friendly staff, space and value for money overcome these downsides :) I will just hope feedback allows for some changes over time.

The spa bath was great
The smell of the room also the bed smelt and had a lot of hair over it we had to shake the blankets and sheets
