Everything!! The hostel owner is such a gem, he was so attentive and kind. Also, the hostel is super close to the bus and train station, making it ideal for a trip to Kamicochi.

Excellent location, very easy to travel to/from and walk around the city sights. Plenty of food around. Tatami style was a plus

You get what you pay for I suppose ! Great location, helpful staff for recommendations.
Bed is essentially the thinnest mattress ever, so don't sleep on your side unless you want a bruised shoulder. The rooms are practically designed to ensure you wake up during the night as the curtains are on noisy hangers, the sliding door clatters when it moves, and you can hear anyone and everything. Ear plugs will be a must. Also the room was balmy hot with no air circulation as the AC was non-functional.
