Constantly cleaned and kept cool. When the monsoon winds and rain came from nowhere, the staff were very fast to pull down the storm protection and keep us dry. The hotel is positioned in a great spot on a sheltered beach, which is swept clean daily of all the plastic bottles and litter we saw on the next beach along. The staff are also very quick to clear away any snakes that wander near. Beautiful gardens and loungers with a little hut for beach massages. They have their own dedicated lifeguard who is fantastic and will give an hour’s private surfing lesson at a very good price. Very attentive guys looking after us. Since we were in monsoon season, there were quite regular power outages and breaks in WiFi connectivity but these were sorted quickly. The bedrooms are spacious and clean - we had a huge suite and a smaller room with a private pool outside the balcony. Both rooms had jacuzzis in the bathrooms. We had a vegan with milk allergy in our party and although this is very unusual in Sri Lanka, the staff and chef were fantastic at making efforts to cater for her and made vegan dishes specially. Really made a difference to our stay. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and nothing was too much trouble. Great pool table too! We went out of high season so it may not be the norm, but we found the hotel to be delightfully peaceful with no late-night disco noises etc and the live guitarist who performed twice in the week we were there was very good at gauging his audience and whether to play close to tables or leave you alone. Very refreshing!

Only very small things like the bath towels not being very big to wrap around yourself. Although the chef was really good at trying to cater for our vegan daughter, the restaurant menu could do with some actual plant-based, dairy-free options as standard. There were vegetarian options but all had cheese, egg or milk in.

Everything was simply topnotch. The location, the service and the food were excellent. The room was incredible - beautiful view and excellent facilities.

The staff remained polite and accommodating during my stay and I appreciated being offered a late check-out, which helped with my airport transfer plans. The room was spacious and comfortable overall and the resort has potential for a relaxing stay.

There were a few maintenance and dining issues that affected my experience. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell during the stay and required maintenance visits more than once. Cleaning improved it temporarily as the smell of cleaner overpowered it but the issue returned. I also experienced repeated problems with the jacuzzi not functioning properly and eventually stopped trying to use it. The breakfast and dinner arrangements were more limited than expected as they operate on fixed menus rather than buffet service. Personally, I would recommend checking the menu beforehand and considering ordering separately rather than automatically choosing breakfast or half board. I also found the repeated promotion of the independent massage service uncomfortable and would have preferred a less direct approach, allowing guests to enquire if interested rather than being approached multiple times. The resort could do with asking the gentleman to not be pushy and tonnot invade personal space especially if it's a solo female guest. He frequently remained poolside while i was in my private plunge pool.
