The receptionist were very helpful and friendly

There was construction happening right outside my terrace door. It started at 7am and was awfully loud hammering and drilling that I could not rest. The worst part is they put their tools and equipment on my terrace.

The property was nicely decorated and the room was very comfortable. The shower gel / shampoos etc were all very nice. The location was good and the food in chinatown was delicious.

The room was for 3 people but the simple things like having enough cutlery is what let the room down. The kitchenette didnt have a tea towel or paper towel for spillages. Whilst we were there the coffee machin keaked and i had to use a hand towel to clean up the mess. There was a scaffolding over the window as there was work taking place that we werent told about before we arrived. The lighting was deliberately designed for a moody setting, but my patner was complaining that a simple task like doing your make up was nearly impossible in such a dark bathroom.

Very pleasant stay. The staff were kind and friendly, and the room was cozy with a comfortable mattress and pillows. It was warm, the shower had great water pressure, and it was nice to have tea, coffee, and water close to the room.

You could hear the neighbors a bit, but it wasn’t a big issue.

The room is very beautiful; huge high ceilings, access to the little courtyard garden, and far more space and facilities than we needed for two nights. It was clean, the water was hot, and you could tell that the hotel prided itself on offering a chic and elegant space. The owner/receptionist was also very friendly and polite, allowing us to leave our luggage.

Unfortunately our room (Room 2) has the main spiral staircase of the hotel cut into the room, and we could hear every step from the staircase and the hotel entrance which was right outside our door. Additionally, the bed is right by the window to the street outside, and they come to collect trash and recycling throughout the night which is incredibly loud. Even WITH our earplugs we slept horribly both nights. There is also a light that flashes in the courtyard on the building opposite that was very disturbing, shining and flashing through the curtains. Unfortunately the shutters to the street by the bed also do not close fully and my partner had a streak of light from the streetlights right across his pillow/side of the bed which would also flash orange when the lights of the garbage collection came through. These are the reasons for giving a lower rating, because unfortunately it was simply impossible to get a good nights sleep. However, we travelled with friends who stayed in room 7 and while they did notice the flashing light in the courtyard, they were not bothered at all by the noises from the street (and they didn't wear ear plugs). Perhaps it might have been worth us looking at the other reviews of the noise and trying to ensure a room away from the street in advance. It's a real shame because otherwise it would have been perfect!
