Hotel La Rosa de America

Breakfast was delicious and bountiful! The pool was perfect! The room was very comfortable. The people, especially Kiki, made the stay memorable, so we returned and stayed again - twice!

There are no negatives. The stay was all we could ask for and more.

We stayed at Hotel Rosa de America two years ago and stayed in room 18 (double room). It was fabulous with a great view of the gardens and well‑kept up (the A/C worked well and the room looked updated). This time we stayed one night in room 5 (double room as well) which had some issues (see next section). Pros of room 5: - The hot water was good and the room was quiet for the night. - We did sit out in the morning on the patio and enjoyed our coffee, the birds, and the grounds, which are immaculately kept and beautiful. - The complimentary breakfast is nice, offering fruit, scrambled eggs, rice/beans, breads, and cheeses. For the price point it is a good value. - The staff are friendly. I would stay here again, but not in that room for more than one night. The hotel’s garden setting, quiet atmosphere, and good food make it worth returning, provided you secure a better‑maintained room. Note: If you do stay at this hotel, try Chery’s for lunch or dinner—they have a lot of traditional Costa Rican food like chifrijío, which is delicious and a must‑try. It’s a super‑easy and safe walk from the hotel.

When I booked this room for one night, Booking.com said I received a free room upgrade with my Booking membership, but the room we were given (room 5) was not an upgrade. It is also a double room, but there were a few issues: - The A/C unit had difficulty cooling the room, and if we tried to lower it to 22 °C it started to make a weird sound. This room was small, so the A/C should not have had a problem if it had been maintained well. - Unlike room 18, where the bedding and shower handles all seemed to be working and updated, this room is in need of new bedding and the shower faucet was very loose. - The way the room is positioned, the window only brings in a bit of natural light and directly faces two other rooms. If we had been staying for more than one night and were not heading home the next morning, I would have requested another room. Suggestion: The restaurant and lobby do not open until 7 a.m.; it would be nice to have an earlier coffee option for early risers.

Breakfast staff were rude and unhelpful. The fan in our room would not work without the light on which was a bit inconvenient at night!

Convenient for the airport

Run down and not well kept. I was surprised by the state of the property relative to the pictures and reviews.
