We had the most wonderful stay at NH Ceysands Bentota. Our spacious room was lovingly prepared and beautifully maintained each day by the wonderful housekeeping team - Sanjeewa, Kasun and Pushpika. For meals, we had booked the half board package, which provided full buffet breakfasts and buffet dinners with some many international and traditional Sri Lankan dishes that were varied each day, to tantalise your tastebuds. One night there was a wonderful crab curry, another night they had mixed seafood tempura. Simply yummy. The restaurant, called Cafe Bem had an exceptionally high service standard. By the end of our stay, these wonderful and competent staff felt more like friends who we didn’t want to say goodbye to; Dilki, Lalantha, Shevin, Tanuka, Madu, Shashini, Nissanka, Sudath, Ali, Anton, Kavinda, Sajith, and Tarushi. These staff are the compelling reason that we will rebook Ceysands again next year. I also need to mention the giant pool, bigger than any I’ve seen and the hotel’s proximity to a great swimming beach. The boat ride across the river to get to the hotel was also an enriching experience each day. I highly recommend Ceysands. Book without hesitation!

The pool, access to the beach, room size and amenities
The F&B staff didn't know what was available or was available during dinner and breakfast. Everyone kept asking someone for confirmation. When we wanted to place a coffee order during the night via room service it was informed that the coffee would be cold by the time it would be delivered to the room, which sounded ridiculous.

The garden and teh large pool with its warm water is great. the beach is also nice, waves are nice to play with but you have to watch your children very carefully. Souvenir shops are nice and cheap - recommend to buy your memories there. The boy who cleaned our rooms was very kind and creative. Our kids loved the animals he made from towels.
Personnel is disappointing, not helpful, not proactive. The poolbar bartender is rude. The á la carte waiters are slow. Those at the reception were not for solving your problem, not for answering your questions or help you with your problems. The whole building is a little bit odd - it has nothing to do with any NH hotel quality in Europe. Food and especially the drinks are poor. Be careful at the pool - in case you have nothing but the towel they give you and if you go swimming they just simply take your staff away and give teh sunbed to someone else...
