I understand that all proceeds go to conservation, yet the rooms could have been a little more rounded off.

Location, views, plunge pools, staff.

The food was very good - but we had alerted them that one of us was vegetarian a couple of weeks before arrival but no vegetarian dish was prepared. Given the price of the stay and that they had acknowledged our vegetarian request we felt this was poor.

The location is clearly the standout feature here, offering a sensational panoramic view. Unfortunately, everything else feels rather mediocre - especially considering the high prices being charged. This is not due to the staff, who genuinely go above and beyond in their efforts. The food was disappointing and more reminiscent of a German highway service station. It is delivered daily from the main lodge, which likely explains the lack of freshness and quality. We stayed in Chalet 3, which is in clear need of renovation and maintenance. The mosquito net over the bed, full of holes, is more of an antique decoration than actual protection. The window screens were also damaged, with several large holes. The so-called “plunge pool” is essentially a plastic water barrel set into the ground - something you have to like to appreciate. The main pool of the lodge is located right next to the parking area, which is not very inviting, and it also lacks sun loungers. Overall, given the steep price, we felt completely ripped off. For us, this was a one-time visit - and that may very well be exactly what the operators are counting on: take the money once, then move on to the next guest.
