Hotel Dorset

We had a wonderful stay at dorset and were impressed by warm hospitality from the moment we arrived. After our journey being welcomed with a cool towel was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated, especially in the Sri Lankan heat. the fresh papaya juice was also a lovely personalized welcome that made us feel truly care. The room was clean, comfortable and well prepared, providing a relaxing space throughout our stay. The team were friendly, attentive and always happy to help, creating a very pleasant experience from start to finish. We appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, the quality of service and the genuine care shown by the staff. A charming hotel with excellent hospitality, and we would happily recommend Dorset to anyone looking for a comfortable welcoming stay in Sri Lanka.

Great place for our first night in Sri Lanka at hotel dorset. The room was super clean, fresh and comfortable. Looks like everything is nicely updated. Aircon and hot water worked perfectly. The host family is so friendly and helpful. Really good value for money near beach and airport.

Great location (quiet, but also a short walk from the beach) and amazing staff. They went out of their way to help me multiple times. Also, the room was really clean and comfortable.

I booked this hotel because of its high ratings and the fact that it advertised 24-hour service. I expected friendly and welcoming staff. When we arrived after a 36-hour journey, the gates were closed. I had to open them myself, walk along a narrow path into a dark courtyard, and knock on the door (there was no doorbell). The door was opened fairly quickly, but the owner appeared sleepy and unprepared. I had indicated in advance that I needed parking for a car. Parking is technically available, but it is located on a road barely the width of a car. I had to reposition the car several times because he was not satisfied with how I parked. In the end, my side mirror was almost touching the wall. Be careful when paying by credit card — they charge an additional 3.5% fee, which is not mentioned in the description. We arrived late at night and had no alternative, so we had to pay it. We were “kindly” shown the bottled water in the room — for an extra charge at a rather steep price. I also asked for a late check-out, but this was refused. In the morning, there was no sign of any cleaning staff anyway. This is a small house that does not really feel like a proper hotel. The rooms are dark and not bright and airy as shown in the promotional photos. I would not stay here again.
