Hope to be back

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful setting. The apartments are situated in the end of a calm street, so the only ‘noise’ you mostly hear is the ocean and birds singing. True, there is a couple of dogs in the nearby houses barking at passers-by, but there are no passers-by (except for you) and the barking lasts this long. I adored the gorgeous terrace with the views, ideal for lazy breakfasts and sunset aperitivos. The bathroom is huge, the walk-in shower comfortable (no curtain, thankfully) and the hairdryer is modern and working perfectly. In general, the place looks just like in the photos or even better (contrary to many others). It’s squeaky clean, bed linen and towels are snow white and the kitchen has everything you need. Tableware is nice and colourful, looks like home and not some quickly gathered plates from the cheapest houseware store. The apartment is very well decorated and also has a nice selection of wine glasses ;). Special thanks to Ana for a nice welcome, checking-in on us to see if the stay was going fine and the flexibility. The location is great if you have a car, otherwise could be tricky to discover the island, but you can walk in 15-20 min to the Cristo Rei statue with great views and cable car to the beautiful Garajau beach (pebbles, but great swimming and cheap sunbeds for those looking for shade). It’s also possible to walk to the beach (20 min down the road) and a few Garajau restaurants.

Great holiday place.

- the owners are so kind and available - amazing view - facilities: the apartment has a patio with grill facility - the apartment is big and cozy - many good restaurant in Madeira, but also possible to cook in the apartment: the kitchen is well equipped.

nice property but real shame about the cockroaches and no compensation.

I liked the location and the facilities available. the view was amazing from the room. host was responsive

unfortunately the wifi did not work for the whole stay despite being reassured that the password works. in addition, we were disappointed to find cockroaches in our apartment. the host did try her best to resolve the situation by dropping pesticide, however, this ruined our last two nights as we were unable to stay the last night in the property. in addition, we were saddened that we were not able to receive any refund for the last couple of nights as they ‘investigated’ the property afterwards and did not find cockroaches- bear in mind they appear at night and hide during the day.

Lovely apartment!

Beautiful, tucked away little apartment set on the side of the hillside; built into the rockface overlooking the sea. Outdoor terrace and bbq area were very handy. The local restaurant serves some of the best food! Great coffee and cake in the nearby cafe. Both 10mins walk. Paula was very helpful with scything extra we needed.

Be prepared for a daily walk up steep hills if you're not driving. Getting Bolt taxis can be difficult but recommend buses.

Unfortunately the moldy ceiling and smell ruined an almost perfect stay

Location was amazing, nice views, extremely quite but still only 10-15 mins by car to Funchal and other nice areas.

The ceiling was moldy and there was a moldy smell in the apartment. For this amount of money I would not choose this apartment again unless they get rid of the mold. Maybe painting the ceiling would help, not sure.

a lovely getaway

A lovely apartment with great views. The property is very clean and well layer out. Good size showers and bed is large and very comfortable.

Having a car would be better for this location and Madeira as a whole as it extremely hilly.

EPIC!!! - one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we have ever stayed

Sophia is an excellent host! The room was amazing - very large, amazing view, exceptionally quiet. Kitchen was well equipped, clean. The proximity to restaurants and shops in the area was very good - we walked everywhere. One of the most beautiful, peaceful places we have ever stayed at!

Wifi was not very good - our only minor complaint, but who really needs wifi in such a beautiful place

Nice and quiet, beautiful view. Good place to stay if you will have a car.

It was quiet and peaceful, the cats were social 😉 not far from Funchal - about 10 minutes by car. Lovely patio if you will get the ground floor apartment. Parking space in front of the apartments. Pingo Doce (a grocery store) nearby, few minutes by car.

A cozy little paradise

I absolutely loved the location. Beautiful garden, peaceful and quiet. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is nice and clean. The bed is comfortable and big. The apartment also has a comfy couch and a place for hanging clothes plus a wardrobe with hangers.

I don't think there was anything I did not like.

Amazing.

It was a great time with Sue and Pete. They are really nice and friendly host. If we had a question or a problem they always knew a solution. The apartment was super clean and we enjoyed the beautiful view every day. (Ocean View… :D) We stayed for two weeks and the best about the location is, that even it’s raining in most parts of the island, here it is always sunny.

excellent accommodation and a most helpful host

Wide, comfy, bed, excellent bathroom, airy and spacious living area. Well-stocked kitchenette with sharp knives and plenty of plates etc. and, of course, the splendid view from the terrace. Communication with Sophia was excellent - she was always very prompt to respond. She was also extremely helpful when our luggage failed to arrive, despite the fact that she herself was on family business in Holland at the time. All in all, a delightful stay.

Our only very minor moan was the lack of any tall glasses for long drinks, cocktails, beer etc. I drank beer from a red wine glass, which served the purpose but was a last resort 🙂🍷

Poor

The garden was quite nice .

Having to cook and wash up outside of the accommodation and being eaten alive by mosquitoes , very over priced especially for the area compared with everywhere else we stayed .

Had a wonderful and relaxing time at Villa Sophia...Very quiet surroundings with a perfect view to the sea and a wonderful hostess that provided answers to our many questions regarding the island.

Exceptional

Everything was perfect. I have never been in such a beautiful apartment. The neigbourhood is very quiet and full of flowers and lovely cottages, close to the city centre and restaurants. The view from the balcony to the ocean is spectacular. The best place ever and the best host!!!!!!

Great apartment in a quiet location

- a large, comfortable apartment - quiet place, although not far from Funchal - sea view - everything for cooking We enjoyed the stay very much and spent some great time! Note: The house is located in the bottom part of a street and walking from the house to the main street near Dom Pedro can be difficult. Rent a car.

A 200 euro deposit in cash is required. I do not think it is necessary. If you are from a country with no euros, you will pay twice the exchange rate for no real reason.

Absolutely amazing stay in Madeira

From the very beginning, we felt at home in the apartment. The wonderful owner greeted us with a smile and gave us a lot of interesting information about the island and activities that can be done, including the possibility of watching dolphins. The accommodation was perfectly clean, a huge comfortable double bed. Fully equipped kitchen also absolutely clean. Large bright bathroom with a spacious shower and the best at the end: a balcony with the ocean view, where we spent every evening with a glass (rather a bottle) of Madeiran wine while singing the common blackbird (Turdus merula). We observed both, the ocean and the nesting kestrel nearby.

Everything was perfect!

Exceptional

I come to Madeira several times per year and this was definitely the best place I ever stayed at!!! :) The view is awesome and the studios are decorated with so much love and great taste! Also, there is such a good vibe and positive atmosphere at the whole place, it was just awesome and Sophia is really great!!! We will definitely come back very soon!

The Wi-Fi was a little weak.
