The welcoming from the stuff
The stove doesn't work, the fridge too in the kitchen and they was no kettle for coffee

I stayed 2 nights. The location was very accessible and easy to travel to other venues, especially Ellis Park, for me as a rugby fan. Staff were super-helpful and welcoming. Big thank you to Moses, Lucas , Nelly &Jennifer. Nice meeting fellow travellers, local & international. Amazing tours of Joburg & other places.
The atmosphere in and around Curiocity is lively & fun!! Streets were safe & people were friendly. I’ve stayed at backpackers in foreign countries. They were good. However Curiocity is local & the most Lekker!!❤️

The staff is really nice (people from Johannesburg in general are super friendly), they have security, the location is central and the beds are good. When I had time to go to the bar, the people were very welcoming.
The place is really loud. The music only stops late (if it's not the music from the bar below, is the music from a bar in the corner) and already starts early. On Sunday, people were already screaming (literally) below at 7 am and I couldn't sleep anymore. There is a bar that is attached to the hostel and they play loud music. The only place with acceptable internet to work is in the bar, but the music is so loud that you cannot concentrate at all. Also, for video calls, the internet was constantly freezing. Sometimes, the plugs in the room were not working at all.
I would only recommend it if you want to party and enjoy the hostel's bar or other bars in Maboneng. Looks like the bar brings more revenue than the hostel.
