A little piece of paradise! We stayed at Eraeliya in the wonderful and spacious Villa Walauwa for 3 days at the end of our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. The beautiful gardens right by the seaside, the pool and direct access to the beach were definite highlights. The staff were also very attentive and especially Rex went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and fulfil all our wishes!
The food was on the expensive side but as there was no restaurant (at least not during low season) everything was served to our terrace which was great.
Communication on activities (surfing for the kids) and spa appointments before our arrival was a bit difficult but once there everything worked out perfectly. Surfing in the bay just outside the hotel was not possible for beginners in October but easy to arrange in Weligama, a 5-10mins Tuk Tuk ride away

It felt like a dream. We booked the two bedroom villa, and it was more than what we had hoped for. Beautifully curated spaces, amazingly warm hospitality, some of the freshest food we have eaten, all came together to create an experience that we will remember for years to come.

This hotel has stunning decor and a prime beachfront location with excellent arrival service that creates a luxurious first impression. However, several significant problems marred our stay.
Our original room had severe plumbing odors and was under maintenance (not communicated beforehand)
• The entire hotel was undergoing construction with builders throughout the property
• Our upgraded room had beautiful design but only lukewarm water for the feature of the suite’s stone bath
• Poor communication and transparency about ongoing renovations
Expensive rates with no included breakfast and no nearby dining options
• Overpriced minibar ($4 for small chip packets)
• Hidden 18% VAT added to all prices, increasing our nightly rate by $55
Birthday cake we requested was allegedly “thrown away” before evening (likely eaten by staff)
• Promised complimentary breakfast was retracted the next morning
• Difficult to locate staff for service requests despite provided WhatsApp contact. Poor communication skills
• Inconsistent follow-through on commitments
