old world charm

i had confirmation from booking.com that I had booked deluxe double room.They wanted to give me a lower category room as they said they had confirmation from booking.com about the lower category. The argument went on for 45 minutes. I finally got what I had booked but it was sheer waste of time. They were not accepting the room confirmation given by booking.com and they wanted me to speak to booking.com. I told them that booking.com is not my agent.It is theirs. You should speak to them and tell them to honour confirmations issued by booking.com

The photographs are misleading.

Run down. Desperately needs refurbishment. Mould on the walls. Awful smell in the bathroom. Opposite construction site, from 7am drilling started until evening. Rooms face busy and noisy road. Left after 1 night. Our reference is the Calcutta Bungalow in North Calcutta which is a fantastic heritage hotel beautifully maintained and looked after and polar opposite to this experience.

A little gem!

Exceeded our expectations. The food is exceptional. The staff are excellent. The hotel has been lovingly restored and has a great atmosphere. We liked the location.

There is traffic noise, although we didn't find it too troublesome. The room was comfortable but maybe could do with a little refurbishment.

Not value for money, stay was just OK, hotel location is good

The wooden furniture in the room was quite beautiful and retro.

I did not try the breakfast, the menu was overpriced and limited to continental dishes. The running hot water was having a pungent smell, I could not use that. The common area(restaurant) had a constant bad smell from the kitchen.

The property is located in the heart of Kolkata hence all nearby locations were within reach. Loved the aesthetic value of the property.

There was to much scope to beautify the place and the terrace garden area. Similarly hygiene and cleanliness needs attention. Very limited options in the menu.

The staff was helpful and the location was great

The property was quite old and the pictures were not representative. Overall cleanliness could have been better. The rooms were quite small and did not have much space to move.

Good location, friendly staff but the hotel needs big overhaul of its basic infrastructure

Very friendly & helpful staff. They try their best to solve the issues. Good food. Clean rooms.

Poor plumbing in bathroom. Water accumulates. Water stopped coming in basin and toilet faucet. Door locks are old manual locks and door latches are falling apart. Even with the lock, the door of the room could be pushed open!

An excellent stay

The boutique hotel is excellent. The hall is unequivocally decorated, the rooms are an example of classic taste. Decorated with antique furniture and wardrobe, the rooms also home modern amenities such as LCD tv, air conditioning, telephone, etc. The hotel sets the bar extremely high.

Ambience and the place

My invoice was made incorrect. Manager was supposed to email me the correct one. With a lot of follow up calls it didn't happen till now and I cannot claim all of my expenses for this reason.
