Cat Tien is a unique find, its remote locationvery much an attaction. When they say 'jungle' they real mean jungle, set on the convulance of two rivers, near to a monkey sanctuary, it really is a special location, and then when you are offered such great service from the staff, super food and English spoken owner who is pleased to share with you the history of the hotel and the locatuon, it really is a 'must stay' hotel. You'll love it - trust me!
There wasnt too much to dislike about Cat Tien, we were happy in most respects.

The location direct at the entry of the national park is very convenient.
Due to my mistake a booked a room with a shared bathroom and wasn’t happy with this, the hotel gave me a free upgrade to a better room, which was extremely nice from them. The room itself was clean, free water available, bed was comfortable. But this being said, I was forced by the staff to write a „positive only“ review, otherwise they told me they will charge me for the upgrade. I refused to do so and told them the honest review will be done after check out.
Also positive to mention: staff was very helpful in booking a bus back to SG.
The facility is dearly run down.
The advertised pool is unusable. On my arrival day the pool (which was one of the main points of my booking) was looking greenish and not really save to jump in. On the next day, the pool was even emptied, with no more water…. The whole area around the pool looks dirty, there’s trash laying around everywhere, no option to comfortably lay down and enjoy the river view.
Which could and should be one of the highlights of the hotel turned our being the biggest disappointment. The breakfast was very much basic. With only the option of egg prepared or Vietnamese soup. Some bread and little option of fruit. Which could be a totally fine option for a cheap price range hotel, but for the price the hotel charges this whole experience is far below average! Even though the owner lady is extremely friendly and nice, staff forcing a quest to write a positive review (or getting extra charged otherwise) is highly unprofessional and then leads to this honest review as a consequence.
